Yep! this is real good stuff. One of my first thoughts was "why hasn't someone thought of this before now?" Maybe it's the Ultraman connection but it has a real comfortable/timeless quality about it, like it's always been around, like an old friend.
Love it!

Possibly licensing complications? Most of Mori's other tribute colorways (so far as I'm aware) are based on characters from shows that are essentially defunct at this point, and moreover, don't make his figures look like their inspiration. This one very clearly evokes the original Ultraman, a widely recognized character for a franchise that lives on. Just a wild guess, I dunno.

Still, he just released the V-3 Evil and 1-Go Chaosman, both of which were featured in a very recent Kamen Rider movie. Aside from head shape (where the Head's head resembles the Ultraman helmet), the Evil's coloring is a dead giveaway for the V-3.
Also, Cronic released an Ultraman Maverasu at Patchi-Summit recently, which would presumably raise the same questions.
Maybe Mori-san is just not an Ultra-fan. Or maybe we will see one released next month. (Kidding.)

This figure looks great, but who the heck are these "ultraman" and "godzilla" characters I keep hearing about on here? Are they popular in Japan or something

Simple yet sharp! I really do like this, I wish it was a run piece and the black does put it all together as Ultraman x RxH
Now paint his eyes blue and you have an Iron King custom

SAMBA, that's an awesome custom. Definitely would have preferred it without the black but still very very pleasing on the eyes. Can't wait to see the other ones you're working on.
