Post The Miracle of Museum Gel
Hey, just thought i'd post this after a few people commented in one of my show off threads about wall diving toys. you'll never have another one with this stuff.

This is the stuff:
Image

It looks like water in a jar:
Image

Tear off a chunk, tho, and it's like putty almost
Image

Put it on a surface (note impression of fingerprints)
Image

and after a couple hours, it melts out like this, but is very firm and ready to have toy pressed into it.
Image

in another hr or two, it will be very flat and almost completely invisible. it will look like yr toy is sitting in a puddle of water.

there is also museum wax, which is good for some other things, but not good if it will get heated. it is also non staining and completely removable.

extremely valuable tools for toy displayers or peeps who live in earthquake prone areas. our last big tremor not one of my toys bit the dust and took a dive. i swear by this stuff!!

unrelated but, anyone remember from back in the day, that "goo" type toy that you added water to, and when pressure was applied it would solidify, and when let go it would turn back to a liquidish state?

This is great. Thanks for sharing. I use the blue tack for some minis that can't stand properly. However it doesn't hold sometimes and doesn't look that great.

I hit my art supply store today looking for it and had no luck. I'm told Container Store stocks it.

So no staining or anything on vinyl toys?

no staining whatsoever! i swear by it! Flax here in the city has it, as does tap plastics, also any good hardware store will have it. it's probably a lot more prevelant out here in calif what with quakes and all, but you should be able to pick up a jar on the net somewhere. inexpensive and usable over and over again.

Can you "pick it up" and move it when your toy is in it or do you have to re-mold it when you do that?

when you go to remove yr toy there will be a slight sucking sound as you "rip" it free. some of the gel will still be stuck to your toy, some to the surface. you can mover the toy elsewhere and depending upon how much adhered to it, it may just stick in the new place w/out having to add more, you'll see thru trial and error
