...are some classics that come to mind. I also like Juno, and Love Actually, Notting Hill, and Brdget Jones' Diary for more contemporary fare.
And of course you can never go wrong with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or A Fish Called Wanda
Stealth, you and I think alike - I was going to suggest some of the same films. The older screwball comedies are some of the best things out there - they really don't write 'em like that anymore. Most all of the Marx Brothers' films are great as well, and as for modern, I have a soft spot for the Drew Barrymore romantic comedies, like The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Fever Pitch. Most of the John Hughes films are brilliant too - besides the high-school based ones, Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles are really funny. And NT, if your mother-in-law likes Steve Martin, LA Story is a must.
