Don't sit on the fence . . . say what ya mean . . . :D
andy wrote:
If it's a "points" release that means someone spent hundreds of dollars (or is it $1,000?) on SB stuff to "earn" this glorious prize.

Once again! . . . it's the frickin' rarity NOT the aesthetic.

JUST like all the samples, test shots, prototypes, initial pulls and one-off rarities that EVERY OTHER MANUFACTURER puts out!

The fact that it's way more than just a single flat colour gives it a little more kudos (IMFO!) . . . and I'm unsure if it's sold at retail or a freebie but either way it's worth decent $$$ (admitidlly $500 is taking the piss a lil', but it's definitely worth well over retail $$$).

I'm tired of the "cheerlead, hype, or shutup" vibe in the "marquee" sections.

I can't see the cheerleading or hyping in this discussion . . . there's a small quantity (if not just the one piece) available, it's kinda nice (IMO) but the guy that currently owns it is being a douche trying to sell it for silly money . . . that's all that most of the posts are stating/confirming . . . No hype . . .No cheerleading . . . No SB lovefest!

If you have that much of a problem I suggest you just don't read the forums in question . . . it's an open message board and everyone has the right to an opinion!

ICrap is crap. I've got every right to call it out.

You have every right to 'call it out' . . . just don't expect to post 'It's basically a shit release' about a Secret Base release in a section of the forum frequented by Baseheads and fans of the product without retort or response! :?

I personally don't see the attraction in the solid blue RxH Evil Prototype that everyone seems to be getting their panties in a bunch over but word is it's gonna go for crazy money . . . What confuses me is why I (or anyone) would think that posting . . . 'It's basically a shit release' . . . . in that discussion would be productive or beneficial in any way shape or form!

:?

Andy - thanks for the level headed response dude. Now that's the type of post I can agree to disagree with

Kudos for not needing to be so base as to bring in another manufacturer to make your points.

Nevertheless, I reserve the right to read the forums and speak my mind. I suppose what gets me is everyone is going gaga over a ho hum figure that was supposed to be a reward for spending a fortune on SB product. Blegh.

And yes there is a "holy of holies" problem with Secret Base, which people can't stand to see criticized. The same goes for 3 or 4 other companies, and I'm pretty sure why, but I'll keep those thoughts to myself.

I'm tracking the way threads like this unfold and finding the results very interesting indeed. Note in my first post I said how much I like the figure and sculpt, just not this release. And everyone goes apeshit since 1/3 of that post included a criticism of Secret Base. Fascinating....

You're delusional, these are the four "apeshit" posts after your original post:

It's on par with all the other RxH/Cronic/S7/SB blank, prototypes, test shots, factory samples that are released. It's not purely about the aesthetic . . . just the fact they're as rare as rockin' horse shit!

This is probably nicer than most in that it's a couple of colours, clear and a nice combo!

No doubt! One of the sweeter no-paints out and if you have one to trade I've got that "rockin' horse shit" you're looking for.

This is the first "apeshit" post, note the author:

You act like you're the only one whose opinion counts, there's some of us here that like the figure (not for the $$$) and stated so. I think the SDCC secreter was one of the best "recent" releases from SB and for most fans of that release would be stoked to have a no-paint version.

Bring up one criticism about Cronic if you want to see a fanboy flip-out.

And salted was my food, and my repose,
Salted and sobered, too, by the bird's voice
Speaking for all who lay under the stars,
Soldiers and poor, unable to rejoice.

Since when have you ever taken the criticism of cronic well? do you have a super secret thought about that you're going to keep to yourself to?

Mind control and crowd control and money control and consumer direction...herd the crowd and hype the product. Move the plastic. Whip the dough and beat the herd.

Scratch the record and spin the bile. Fill the darkness. Expand the vacancy.

I like Skullbrain. This version empties. I like the sculpt. This version bores. I like innovation. This version contracts.

Choose your target. Load your weapon. The darkness never fills. The hours never fill. The fire never lights. The promise is never kept.

Punk is a slogan. Hard core fits on a T-shirt sleeve. Freedom is a name brand.

I'm not sure...either. It's almost completely nonsensical.

I really enjoy logical arguments and mature debates..but this thread's turned out rather strange.

I like Skullbrain. The sculpt rocks.

This version is boring.

There is so much to discuss and so much thoughtfulness!

Agreeing to disagree is cool in my book but it appears level headed responses seem to have gone MIA! . . . . what's with all the jibber jabber?

Well, I'm sure we'd all agree that toy geeks all share a certain propensity towards being a bit kooky, but when the levels of kookiness spike the way they have recently, I'm more inclined to be concerned.
