Re: Mars photo imagery! That sinkhole is clear evidence of past life of urban maintenance personnel. I'm not sure what that odd-looking clear-and-red thing perched on its edge is, though. Probably a common rock.  Good job.

This is probably a silly question but can anyone tell me why the imagery from these photos of mars seem so unrealistic? bar the blob. Is it a distance thing, or do they get creative with the colouring?

Thats because the color is an approximation and they are also using the SSI camera, its basically a stereo camera..but your only viewing 1 part of the image so. here's the link to the Univ of Arizona Phoenix website image gallery They are the lead on this mission w/ project management by JPL/NASA http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=0&cID=8
