 ogon bat ID
I picked up this toy at a car boot sale yesterday. I know its an ogon (orgon?) bat figure but was wondering if any vintage toy buff would know who produced it, and when it was made. It's a funny toy. More like Napoleonic statue than sofubi toy. Only one point of articulation, and made of the thinnest vinyl ever. You can actually see though it if you hold it to the light! The paints not up to much either, flaking away inside the bag. But it has a certain charm, hence the addition to the collection. Any info?

I just found this picture while searching the site for books. (vintagevinyl's images) This seems to be the guy, but the pictures not clear enough to read. It also looks like he used to have white teeth. That would explain the white paint flakes in the bag.

Nice pick up, I've never seen one still in the bag. I'd love to see the header.

Mondo, anything on the feet, or did I miss that? Here's some more info about Ogon Bat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogon_BatI've been told that he's significant because the first licensed Japanese character toy was based on him.

 Re: ogon bat ID
Ahh, the Ogon Bat movie... I saw the first 40 minutes or so and absolutely loved it, but then my roomate at the time was having a lady friend over, so he asked if I wouldn't mind taking an evening constitutional to give them some privacy. Of course I obliged, but the video had to go back the next day. I have yet to see the end

You know, it takes a big man to tell a story where he admits that one night he didn't get laid and he didn't get to watch a superhero movie. ;p

 Re: ogon bat ID
haha..i actually have TWO of these. I bought one this last time I went to Japan and also bought another one the time before that. The time before the last time, I bought it at mandarke in Shibuya. The card that was with it said (well my friend translated it) that it was some sort of unlicensed mail away product. I think it was made to hold soap.
I bought another one when I was with data dub at the tokyo toy fair. I have a full repro of the header card, I take a few pics tommorow.
