 Bandai Modern Middle size figures
Doctor says I need to a less stressful collecting life-style. Bandai Modern Middle size figures are $5-8, available almost everywhere (here in Japan), nice steady release schedule, a 20+ history of older treasures to hunt for and when there is a limited release its usually "limited" to 1000s of pieces. All the characters we love, and nice form factor and don't feel bad when the kids play with them. whats not to love?

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
Very cool. What is the current Ultraman series called and are they revamping classic seijin and kaiju for it?
Had so much fun at the Ultraman Festival last year. The King Joe exclusive was sold out and we were there the second week. Hope your doctor says you are ok to go. It should fix you right up.

That Mefilas looks like a Starcraft dude. He's all, "MY LIFE FOR AIURRRRRRRRR" and then whips out some psi storm.

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
This has pretty much been my cheap collecting fix lately. Newbury Comics has been carrying them in-store for about 10-12 bucks each. Awesome toy crack to be sure.

Thanks for the pic, Datadub. I am definitely going to try for one of these. Bandai Ultra kaiju are like crack for me also. Check out http://www.scifijapan.com for the article about Decisive Battle! The Super 8 Ultra Brothers movie. Several kaiju are being redone for the movie. Would love to see Bandai release versions of these updated kaiju, especially King Pandon and King Gesura.

A gold star to datadub for sharing the toy crack gospel. They're beginning to see the light... Here's one that you can't live without: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN949080

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
Ah, BeelzeBug! Interesting they would do an entirely new sculpt, I have the black version of the old one. I see it says 'prepainted and assembled' - I wonder if that's just to distinguish it from kits, or if they've changed the manufacturing process - This certainly has a completely different feel, like it's assembled from colored parts, than the earlier Satan Beetle. Doesn't everyone love Bandai? I guess I just assumed we didn't talk about it much here because it IS so easy to get! Though, I do remember Isaac being quite startled when I walked into S7 with a Bandai Pestar I'd found down in Japan Center.

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
It's actually not a new sculpt, it's the same one they've been using since the 80s. They just gave it a good enough paint job where it looks much nicer.

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
is there a standard kaiju classification name for this figure form factor? I assume they pretty much evolved from the middle sized figs of the Seventies. Inspire's Hero collection & Empires Heater are basically in the same form factor.

Re: Bandai Modern Middle size figures
I'm not sure, would they fall into the "medium size" category? They're about the same scale as the Popy King Zaurus figures.
