I have to agree with the rest of the comments. I like the photos, just somehow make space for others and post to an ongoing thread or something so it doesn't feel like such a tidal wave.

In many ways, less can be more.

Hey no offense geo but I'm kind of getting sick of the six show off threads a day from you. Very cool toys but maybe try to post your daily hauls in one thread/in one pic. I really don't think you need a new thread with 5 pictures for every single toy you get!!

that's just my opinion though if I'm the only one I'll shut up.

More can also be more. I kind of feel that some folks appreciate the different perspectives on the toys. Some may not see these toys in other places. I have found that one mega thread of pics is too large to be practical from a bandwidth perspective. Whatever, whatever, whatever. As OJ's attorney said: "Just don't click if you don't want the pic."

I guess it is completely my fault for really liking these toys, buying a lot of them, taking lots of pictures, and sharing.

The main reason I said something is when you post all those pics nobody looks at anything in this forum because there's always a million new threads started by (surprise) geo. I like attention every once in awhile too.

now there's nothing wrong with posting a spread every once in awhile but I just think the daily barrage of photos from one person has people (myself included) a tad bit overwhelmed. I understand feeling like a kid in a candy store but maybe just keep it a little more low-key or post pics of all your stuff together like the other "super collectors" Or even just don't post the new pics so quickly. I think you will find that you won't get bored with this as fast if you don't let all your secrets out at once.

That being said I think we can all agree that you have good taste and take decent pictures. This was not a personal attack on you, I would've made the same original post no matter who was the culprit.

sorry about the long winded post.

Hmm... I am going to think this over, but I am leaning heavily toward going back to my original mode of posting individual threads for individual figures. I think it is more helpful for people that are in fact really interested in a particular figure, and it solves the bandwidth problem of having one big thread with all the pics.

I don't have all of my figures out in massive displays, all heaped together in row after row, so I am not able to post pictures like that. That is not my intent, in any case. I prefer to focus down on the details of individual items - I personally appreciate these figures more up close and personal. By focussing on the details, you can learn to see and appreciate the toys in a new (and I think, more meaningful)way.

I have checked back through the show off forum to see who has posted how often, etc.

This is a fan site for japanese toys, correct?

I am posting pics of japanese toys. It shouldn't matter WHO is posting the pictures, just that the pics are relevant to fans of japanese toys, correct? Who gives a rip who is posting them? And if it bothers you that someone is posting a lot of pictures, why?

If people don't want to see the pics of the toys, just because they are MY pics of MY toys, it is just easy not to click the link - don't look. The control is completely in your hands.

Otherwise, I just don't get this. I don't make any claim to being a good photographer, but I feel that my pics are at least half-way decent. You may not like my style, but they pass the basic sniff test.

So, it is not the subject matter of the pics (japanese toys) or that the pics are complete crap. So there is some other reason why some of you are complaining.

I apologize for going crazy and being able to buy a lot of stuff. I wish everybody could buy what they want, and I LOVE seeing pics that other people post. All I am interested in doing is sharing pics of what I am able to collect.

We are Real Fans of japanese toys on this board, right? Well, it seems that real fans like to get as much as they can of what they are fans of, pictures, information, or otherwise.

I am not giving anybody the finger; rather I am just expressing how I feel and trying to explain why I will probably just go back to posting pics as I get them, like before, even at the risk of taking some flack from some members.

I am happy to discuss this further... maybe I am missing something.

i know your intention is posting pictures of details of each figure, as a catalog... that's your way to participate on this forum but i think posting 10 + threads with tons of pictures is not the only way of being active in a board.

i think is mostly you like the attention. yeah, all of us need some attention but you ask for it all the time.

if i don't have anything to say? i just don't post. i'm not thinkin about posting 20 pics of each toy i own to show people how cool they are (and yeah, they are fuckin cool)

i know the control is in our hands but basically you're bombarding the boards with tons of pics. is not matter of bandwith, is matter of moderation

all those were nice suggestions and you said "you're not giving the finger" to people but you're doing what you did a few days ago: asking for suggestions and then basically saying "well, fuck all the people on the boards, i gonna do whatever i wanna do!". you don't think so?
well, i think that one thread with 100 pics of yours was a big finger to everyone who suggested you to "put all your pics on one thread". what was the purpose of that? just a funny joke? 100 pics (most of them already seen in other threads?) in one thread? well if it was a joke, i have a bad sense of humor

i usually don't post negative shit on the boards but this stuff is getting outta control.

and don't feel all bad, geo... from those 100 pics you posted i like some of them. (i just hate the borders and the shadows, but well, that's your style)

Yeah mate. I'm with you. It's definitely a conspiracy. Fight them brother.
FIGHT ON!!

Seriously though you making it sound life and death. Have you actually read the comments people have made? Or you just go directly to "they're out to get me"? I like to read what people are saying in these show off threads and your shots are often quite nice, but I am skipping yours because of the wait for the images to load so I can get on with reading. THEY ARE USUALLY TOO BIG!!!! This does not mean I hate you, your pics, your collection, or how you shoot your collection. Simply means as it says - I get tired of the wait each time I look.

I will say though that not every angle of every toy you (and everyone) buy/have/want is pertanent. Don't get me wrong, I like how you are shooting and the details are what I like and, as you say, get lost in the mass collection pics. But 1/4 view, 1/3 view etc. look amazingly the same after awhile.

No one is asking you to stop showing your shots, and please keep shooting as you are - I like it, but if you want people to get into your shots just focus on the best and REDUCE THE SIZE. (it isn't how many pics are in a thread, it's the size of each pic that's killing me).

I rarely rant, but damn the conspiracy sleuth here pushed a button or two.

YEAH!!!

well, seriously, geo, if you don't think is too exagerated, take a look at glenn's, muton's or cesar's (!!) own forums. how many threads they have a day? (or a week...cesar? ) you're basically taking over the show off forum.

Just a couple of quick points, and then I think this has been beaten into the ground, at least by a couple of peeps.

I do care what people think. People did give me comments and suggestions (and complaints). I carefully considered the input, but chose not to follow it for reasons I explained. Just because I didn't agree or did not capitulate to complaints does not mean I am just saying "fuck you" or giving people the finger.

I don't believe that there is any kind of a "conspiracy" as has been suggested. Based on the comments and complaints, I think it is much simpler than that: some people feel that I am "hogging" the show off forum - that I am too big of a show off. I admit my posts there have been pretty fast and furious, but this will die down as my collecting frenzy slows.

Some have suggested "don't post if you don't have anything to say." Well, sometimes pictures say a lot and that is my main mode of communication in the show off forum (what other mode of communication is there really in the show off forum?). Again, some folks don't like my "style" or don't appreciate seeing the same toy from different angles or perspectives - I guess the solution for them is "don't click."

While any collector enjoys showing off his or her collection, I am NOT doing this out of a need for attention. My intention is to share with others the beautiful objects I am able to obtain - This way, others can also enjoy these figures more "up close and personal." Being able to see the figures in this way helps others make a decision whether they want to go on the hunt and try to get one too. It seems odd that I should be made to feel like a "culprit" for doing this.

I will look into the sizing of the pics for people with bandwidth issues. My sense is that these pics pop right up for most folks (with the exception of the mega post I made - I am going to abandon that). I had made the adjustment in my preferences on fotobukit to reduce the size, but it looks like it may not have "taken."

When I reduced the size of my urban vinyl figs posted on other boards, I received many PMs asking me for higher definition (larger) pics because people wanted them for other reasons or to print out. I finally just took to posting the pics in a higher definition to begin with.

Now, if I could only have just posted a picture to say all these words... anyway, this is about all I have to say on this subject and will let the pics do the talking in the show off forum from here on out.

That's the Marmit.

They made clear blue versions (and plain black) of almost every vinyl from the paridise line.
I have a Gigan.
