these are done with a marbleizing dip technique, creating the design floating on water and then dipping the kaiju through the surface of the water, the Blobpus and Matangos got a gloss coat to make them shiny, that Blobpus looks like polished stone in person, hope the pics do them justice. I like how they turned out for my first ones. got a few more planned that will hopefully be even better
I think its similar to what Cronic is doing on the versions like this one:

On a technical note, does the water affect how the paint adheres to the vinyl? Just curious.

I was gonna do some like this, but you beat me to it! The GID ones are especially nice. I love how the marbling looks on the different sculpts. Reminds me of Fender's "Bowling Ball" Stratocasters. (sorry, couldn't find a pic) They utilized the same technique, no 2 are ever alike. Bravo!

I like the Blob the best. Maybe it's just the nature of that figure that makes this technique seem most appropriate.

I've played around with this too and like the fact that the end result is so unpredictable. What's also amazing is just how fine a "skin" of paint can be left on the figure. If you could control this technique you could really end up with some awesome results.

there really is not much comparison between marmit's and m1go's matango sculpts.

those marmit ones just don't do it for me in the least

I really like the Matango on the right (too bad it's not on the M1 sculpt) and the Skullwing - these look much better than the Cronic that you posted!
The others I don't really care for. To me these look better with minimal paint - it makes the paint that IS there stand out a lot more. The ones that have more paint look too heavy and muddy.
Actually, after looking again I like both Matangos, but I particularly like the one on the right because the lower half is left black.

these are really great. This is the 3rd time in a week ive seen people experiment with a technique like this or similar and I love it. I think it lends itself well to the sculpts but its a big departure from traditional paint sprays. I love it. The muddier the better.

I totally agree, I call the marmit the 'muffin head' matango, LOL. the M1 is a work of art, one of my favorite sculpts of all time, although I love Matango so much I even kinda like the marmit



I would love to trade with you, your work is awesome the paint cures on the vinyl great, very strong and solid, I stripped one I diddnt like and its tougher to remove than vcolor. the water is dry and gone in minutes





LOL, my parents did a bunch of stuff with this technique back in the 70s, we had pencils, flower vases, even the downstairs phone was marble dipped, I haddnt thought about it in years, but seeing those Cronic ones made me want to try this out. I bet it would work great on easter eggs too!



'less is more' on these for sure, some of my first ones were a bit too busy, lots of contrast looks good with this technique.



certainly will never replace traditional paint sprays, but its nice to try something new, my next project Im working on is real 'gold leaf' hope they turn out good

try this technique out for yourself, its really fun to do



Im really getting the technique to where I want it at this point, the best results are from the really fine skins of paint, its easy to do too much or get things too thick, the unpredictable results are awesome, its as much or more luck than skill with this stuff

Maybe you talked about this already, do you have to use a special paint? I guess so, something that wouldn't mix with the water. Do you mind sharing? (I won't blame you at all if you want to keep some secrets )
How well do you think the paint bonds with the vinyl? No risk of flaking?
