 Re: Popsoda Whaaa?
I think this fits in really nicely in the "Popsoda universe." The store was originally about pop culture toys (hence the name), mostly from the US - Wacky Wobblers, restaurant toys, breakfast cereal characters, 80s action figures - that sort of thing.
There's a pretty big subculture of that type of stuff in Japan, with original toys made by companies like Popsoda, Spanky, and 8 Style. So you've got figures like this new one alongside RxH kaiju collabs, which are sofubi cousins with a similar vibe. Actually, my appreciation for the pop scene has been slowly growing over the years, as I see how it all comes together in shops and shows in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka...

 Re: Popsoda Whaaa?
Yeah Andy nicely put. This is a different thing from kaiju and western stuff. Its pushing a different vibe. I picked up a couple of figures recently that I think are in the same vein I dont know anything about the black fellah, printed on the bag, VISE motorcyclin clothes co. 02. With small iron cross printed all over it. He's holding an axe behind his back.

 Re: Popsoda Whaaa?
one of the main things i love about popsoda is the whole ed "big daddy" roth, stanley "mouse" miller vibe i get from their stuff. i have loved that stuff since i was a kid, and i try drawing in that style sometimes.
