Thanks for the link - amazing stuff! No more quickies on the hood in bar parking lots I guess.

Its pretty cool but that technology has been around for a few years now. I remember seeing it being used as a rear wing for some sport cars. Basically the wing would activate much like the Porsche's of today and the mechanism would make the skin rise up in the back to create the downforce. Very elegant but I guess it still costs a bit much to make for production.

Yeah i want a car that someone can rip to shreds with a box cutter in 5 minutes. But I guess if your in the economic bracket that can afford that then you could afford valet parking. I'm waiting for 3-D holographic projections then you could drive around in a piece of junk but make it looked like this...

Anyone with keys in their pocket could scratch up your paint now, if they wanted ... and every convertible is already just as vulnerable to box cutters ... But even so, I agree to the extent that I wouldn't want to be the first person to park this on the mean streets of South Beach.

But if it's true that crashworthiness does not rely on sheet metal, why not fabric cars? Planes were made mostly of fabric for a long time. Sounds like a great idea to me.
