 A delightful morning at work
This week has begun an annual time of great, stressful busy-ness here at my office, and I’m basically in hell this morning. It’s just been one thing after the next…screwed up schedules, missed connections, having to unexpectedly cover for people… to top it all off, I now have to interview a job applicant whom my assistant seems to think has been drinking… How's your work morning going?

Re: A delightufl morning at work
Wow, that sounds great. I've never had the balls to show up to an interview drunk, but I imagine that I may try it sometime...never for a job that I would actually want.
I keep trudging along on The Program That Would Not Die™. No matter how many times my boss says it's done, it keeps rising from the grave.

Woke up 2 hours late for work because of jet lag. Just got into the office. It's almost lunch now. Lol.

Re: A delightful morning at work
Had to take the bus to work while hung-over because my bike is still in the shop. Not a fun hour of my life. But at least there wasn't a bleeding, stinky, meth-head removing and replacing his between-the-eyes piercing like I sat near last night...

The drinking lady, um, will not be getting the job. I went through the motions with her...half an hour of precious time wasted. Kinda sad, too. Ah, well...another full load of candidates/interviewing tomorrow...

Re: A delightful morning at work
So was she just a "hung-over, quit drinking at 4am" drinking lady or a "gotta job interview and need to slam a pint of vodka" drinking lady? Despite the tragedy of alcoholism, this had to be a little more interesting than the standard applicant...certainly different than most, I would hope!
Take heart in the fact that you are on the downside of the work week!

Re: A delightful morning at work
If anything, she was a "few quick nips to keep me steady until I can get out of this and really start drinking" person. She interviewed fairly well, actually- was outgoing and enthusiastic, her responses were good- and if the interview had been my only experience of her...she might have seemed a somewhat viable candidate. But she was a mess during the testing phase we did before the interview- she had to keep asking directions again and again on simple stuff, and ended up scoring really poorly. Who knows, too- there might have been no alcohol involved- she smelled of some indeterminable form of alcohol, but maybe she had some rare malady that was causing that...ultimately, that was a red flag, but even without that, she wouldn't have gotten through.

And yes, this is good and bad , as the coming month will be like sands through the hourglass as I singlehandedly (well, with the help of our awesome intern, thank gawd for her) try to plan the annual company field day for 425 people in early August...all while, of course, being expected to keep up with all the rest of the yang that comes my way daily.... All I can say is it better not rain on August 1!

Re: A delightful morning at work
I did a job interview pissed once. I went to a beer festival which started at 11, interview around the corner at 3, so left at half 2, wobbled into the interview, and left back to the booze in the end I blacked out for about 5 hours and woke up in a park bleeding. Got the job, though.

Hopefully there will be no new Gara-releases during July that you'll have to chase down on top of everything else!

Nice work, backtrack! I gotta ask, what was the job? scottygee wrote: Hire that drinking chick and have her help plan a big "beer-n-brats" party! Best of luck, Mike! Hopefully there will be no new Gara-releases during July that you'll have to chase down on top of everything else! Ha! Yeah, I wish man...the event is 8:30 am to half-past noon, and completely dry... "Attention, drones: please report to the event area to begin HAVING FUN TOGETHER this morning..."As for Gara-releases, unless something batshit-crazy-terrific drops...I think I may be all done buying for '08...I have that clearedescent Marusan Pygmon on order, and that's all that's on the horizon...of course, saying that aloud is like asking for someone to announce an amazing, wallet-busting release tomorrow!

It was one of those unintentional drunks, meant to only have a couple, which turned into 4 and they hit me harder than expected. I wouldn't do it again If anyone tries it, get some chocolate in ya, it covers the booze smell on your breath better than mints or anything else. I guess you could probably have some minty chocolate, that'd work as well
