I'm not a big fan of burning anything and putting it into my lungs, but this just does not compute.

Drugs ain't my thing but Amsterdam is a surreal city that everyone should visit at least once in their life!

Re: Just how insane can things get?
First of all weed is not even close to being in the same category as crack. You don't get "addicted." It's more along the lines to being addicted to ice cream or having cravings for sex. It's not a harsh physical addiction. Many high profile people smoke the odd joint and still lead very successful and productive lives. Sure it's bad if you sit around for a month smoking weed, playing video games and stuffinf chips in ur mouth. But that usually stems from poor lifestyle choices or just plain laziness. Moderation is key.
Second of all, good about the tobacco. I never understood smokers sense of entitlement with wanting to smoke anywhere and destroy other people's health. It's common convention in Vancouver to ask your friends if it's ok to smoke around them or to walk off and do it where you aren't effecting anyone.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
Boston outlawed smoking cigs at bars and clubs a while ago. I can't believe that I used to go to bars and come home with my clothes reeking of cigarette smoke.
As discussed elsewhere, cannibis is a mild drug in my opinion. Alcohol is much more deadlier and responsible for much more death and destruction in my view. Bar fights, drunk driving, spouse abuse and other crimes.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
A downtown cop told me once that if all the club crawlers smoked weed and didn't drink his job would be a lot easier.
and Vancouver outlawed smoking in clubs a while ago, i remember when you'd go into a club and it would be like a smoke screen. Shit makes you wanna puke after awhile.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
At the Blunt Bros. in BC people had to go into an enclosed room with ventilation to smoke cigarettes, but you could smoke herb in the common area. Works for me.

I was in Amsterdam last week - the coffeeshops aren't worried. Supposedly most people buy their gear and split anyway, and most folks that stick around tend to use vaporizers, bongs, and pipes instead of tobacco. Doro had a blast too. If this pic is a problem, please remove it.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
I was kidding decypher and I didn't say they were comparable at all, it was just funny they specifically banned tobacco. I think pot is less harmful that alcohol and its bullshit they try so hard to have it outlawed. I live in california I don't even remember the last time I saw anyone smoking inside of a building. I know at cannibus clubs here most people don't smoke cigs at all and pretty much get their stuff and split too. Personally I think cigs are disgusting and wouldn't want to smell it while I was trying to enjoy a nice purple strain of chronic that I just paid 50 for an eighth of.

smoking sucks, if you wanna do that shit do it outside. tokyo has it down with the 'designated' smoking area thing.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
For the record, I'm a smoker and proud. I am a respectful smoker as well and understand the general feelings of other people, but fanatical non smokers wind me up to no end, and I always hate the prospect of losing more control over my life and the choices I am allowed to make, whether it's smoking or whatever else.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
anti smoking laws have gone way too far imo. dont like to be patronized either. takes away a lot of pub culture. amsterdam is so cool - lovely little city - pretty much in the middle of europe, great place for euro-sk to meet!!!

Same here, my man. I'll ask if its okay to smoke in my own car and home when around non-smokers. I love getting yelled at by strangers when Im standing outside having a smoke.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
weed is great, until you see lots of people in their late 20's who were heavy tokers now taking anti-psychotics to help with their schizophrenia. Brilliant.

Re: Just how insane can things get?
I can still remember Ronald Reagan running on the premise that pot was the most dangerous drug known to mankind. So what happened when he was president? The crack epidemic.
