Obama isn't pearly white, but no politician is. He just seems to be the best alternative of the two. Again, McCain will continue to destroy this country like BushCo has with the two wars, the tax cuts for the uber wealthy and just being a confused old man who is directed by money hungry lobbyists....

Mike is right that there is frighteningly little difference between the Dems and the GOP these days, but decypher etc. are right that there's still enough difference for McCain to be a complete disaster.

FL 2000 and OH 2004 show that every vote (potentially) counts, though. If you believe in change, Obama's your only option - McCain thoroughly sold out his own once-'maverick'-ish principles six years ago. Even more important, however, are the House and Senate races - Without Obama having a working, filibuster-proof majority, we'll never know what could have been, because politics-as-usual will keep anything big from getting accomplished ...

If the Dems could accomplish three things -
1 - Put health insurance out of business with single-payer health care (it ain't perfect, because what human endeavour is, but health insurance companies are Evil Incarnate, trust me on this ... );
2 - Get us out of Middle East military occupations, both real and imagined, and treat Israel/Palestine just like any other regional ethnic conflict; and
3 - Eliminate the terror mentality of the last eight years, and treat 'terrorism' like what it is - a criminal matter for police;

then I would consider the effort a huge success. If they accomplish none of those, but McCain's defeat means the GOP is also unable to get the one more Supreme Court Justice that they need to have a hard majority of right-wing extremists, that alone will be enough to preserve hope.

I'm psyched at all the recent RxH sell off. I've filled a bunch of holes in the collection. Very cool to see the after-market prices of older RxH plummeting.
