Post Removing a blister from its card
So I have a couple toys that are blister carded. Some toxic avenger stuff and Kineda's bike from Akira and want to take the toys out. Anyone know how to take the blisters off without ripping off any of the card from the glue. I was thinking of trying a hair dryer, but didn't no if the plastic got hot if it might melt or warp.

as in all toy packaging, i make no guarantees. you might want to test this on a small corner.

lighter fluid will dissolve glue and almost always leave packaging art in tact. I used this on dozens of kubrick boxes and other blind boxed toys, and have seen many record stores use it to remove stickers. again. WARNING I WON"T BE HELD RESPONSIBLE for damage, but you can try it. (always worked for me)

buy some plain lighter fluid, in a well ventilated place squirt it just around the area where the card is attached, the adhesive will start to dissolve. Give it enough time to do its thing. when dissolved you should be able to pull off the card cleanly. don't force it or it may rip the backing.

once removed, wipe the plastic & dab the card with a paper towel.
the cardboard it will look oily/wet for a bit, but once it dries it should return to its original color.

obviously common sense would say not to do this around anywhere that is hot (direct sunlight or near flames) or in an unventilated area.

good luck & always test a corner first!

go to KB toys and buy one of their clearance figures on a blister card. you can test away on that and wont be out anything except a trip to the mall and a couple bucks

true, but remember all glue and ink differ. just becuase it works on one card & blister doesn't mean that it will work on all. though this has always worked for me on mini boxes, monitor what is happening very carefully. use a little at first, then more if needed.

use an exacto blade and cut the blister pack close to the backing board if you dont want to fuck with lighter fluid.

same here, fuck the packaging. it's all about what's inside that counts. but, if you are looking to save the package i'd say missy's idea should work best. i used this exact method to remove price stickers from boxes when i worked in a comic book store years ago. use small amounts at first to get used to it. just don't smoke at the same time.

And here I thought I was the only one who bought lighter fluid specifically to use as ghetto Goo Gone...
