 Re: The Dark Knight is..
Yeah...I prefer to NOT see robin...ever in Nolan's Batman series. I trust Nolan as a director as a storyteller but I'm rather see the story progress elsewhere.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
Robin as "sidekick" material would be lame. But enter a Frank Miller type universe, and you've got a whole lot more to work with.
But Dark Knight is so dark and depressing and covers so many bases, I really can't see them making the character even more tragic. Plus they've left little room for new development for the character. I mean DK is a LONG and complex story. So I'm guessing this will be it for the Bale Batman. But who knows.

He hasn't done anything even remotely interesting since his Bman Year 1.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
I'm thinking older Miller Batman.
DK seems (to me) to be largely based on that Batman - from the 80s. Not sure if it's a coincidence that Miller's series and the movie share the same name, but the feel of the two are similar.

BUT I have very specific demands (who the hell am I right?) 1. Robin has to be young, like young young 9-10 max. 2. No jokes, no puns, no wakka-wakka humor. 3. no more than 5 minutes screen time as Robin 4. It's the final film in the series Since all my demands will never happen, I hope there is no Robin.

AH. True. Yes..old Miller ruled. I think this was loosely based on miller, the long halloween, killing joke and a few others. All good reads.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
The reason a Robin could work is they've already gone through the girlfriend and friend angle. But there needs to be a new way for Batman to connect with another person on a human/fatherly/mentoring level, and that's what the Robin concept allows. Most everything else (story permutation-wise) is just a recycling of Batman's current (off the charts) angst, and I can't see Nolan or Bale going for that.
Well I suppose there's the geopolitical ballgame, which could be interesting considering how rescrewed up the world has become in the last five years. Filmmakers and actors are loving the fact that they can finally say/do something about the situation without being called unpatriotic. I guess that might interest Bale.

Time to catch up. Yay!
A comic book nerd friend said it sucked. We shall see.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
I think the dark knight isn't going to be a 'happy' film. It's seems more noir.
I've heard it beeing equated to star wars..If you love empire strikes back you'll love it. But if you love return of the jedi and think it's the best one...then you'll hate it.

I was pissed about Falcone being locked up in the first one, he ends up being a major character in the Long Halloween. Plus I like the Gangster/Batman stories.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
To add to the discussion, some quotes and tidbits I've heard.
Bale (among other cast members) signed on for a 3 film contract. So there's still one Batman film to come perhaps.
Bale said he would refuse to be in a film with Robin.
Nolan has said no to Penguin or Riddler in his films. He thinks they're too silly in the modern Batman.
Maybe Batgirl will come along, lol.

 Re: The Dark Knight is..
$18.4 mill from midnight previews alone, wowee and beating SW Ep III's record of $16mill (I think I read adjusted for inflation it would be $18.5 mill in today's dollars). I'll be interested to see how this holds over up over the weekend! (Sorry this stuff for me is interesting because of my job)

Re: The Dark Knight is..(Some spoilers)
Personally I think its the best comic book movie I've ever seen. Ledgers performance was worth hype.

Re: The Dark Knight is..(Some spoilers)
Death in the family! I begged my parents to let me call the 900 number to have him die. They said no. I did it anyways. I felt the wrath but it was worth it.
