In a couple of days, there will already be a total of 4 of these guys released so far. I only have one and I think I give up on completion already.

I guess it depends on if you're after every single version of the figure, or if you want to focus just on the versions painted by Naoki or Mark. The reason there are already four of these is 2 are unpainted, Mark painted 1, and Naoki painted 1.

Haha I just brought that up in the SDCC thread! It's not by Cronic and it's 10". I think it's just another of Marks take on the character.

Totally different sculpt -- That is Tripus and he is larger (standard size) than Tripasu (a little bigger than fight figure size, kinda RxH size).

Tripus is also a Max Toy Co. original and is not a collaboration with Cronic.

I think Strangeco is just selling Max Toy stuff at SDCC and isn't (as far as I know) involved in the development/production of the new MT figures.

got the image from vinylpulse. Description says this...
We were surprised to see two different sculpts of Mark Nagata’s Tripasu kaiju at the STRANGEco booth. The first we expected – the collaboration with Cronic. There’s also a much larger (10” ?) Tripasu from Max Toy Co and STRANGEco. The larger figure feels a little meaner to us though both are way north of the cute border. More info soon.

If you pronounce "Tripus" in Japanese, its "Tripasu." So either way, they have the same name.

That is the assumption, I guess. I still find it weird that Mark would spell them differently if they were intended to be the same name.

Nah. One is in English, and the other one is in Engrish.

Its like "Damnedron" is pronounced and spelled "Damudoron" in Japanese and is what it says on the headercards in Japanese.

Post Re: Debut painted Tripasu
Ok, so here is the deal. I asked Mark why the difference, and he kindly responded to me today.

TripUS is the original character by Mark Nagata. "Tri-Pus" is meant to be like "octo-pus."

TripASU is the result of a collaboration between Mark and Cronic, in which Cronic styled a fight figure based on the TripUS design. As with other Cronic toys, the name had to end with "-ASU" (part of Koiwa-san's wife's name).

I think I got that right. So I guess it was not a case of 'lost in translation' at all. :D

That being said, I want a Tripus. And when will it be released in GID, eh?
