They'd steal it because some diseased minds derive pleasure from the simple act of taking something that doesn't belong to them. I'd also agree that the culprit isn't a collector, nor someone who appreciated the painting so much that they couldn't bear to leave the 'Con without it. Just another thief who saw an opportunity. A lowlife.

Stealing art is pretty fucked and the guys must be really upset. I know Katope could of used that money.

The couple times I worked at SDCC was in the late 90's and theft was rampant back then. I think there were 19 kids caught just at our table alone in one day, none of them by the SDCC staff though, all by KR who is also a board member here. We worked together back then. Alot of the little shits wait all year to come to the event just to rip stuff off. The most fucked was a guy who set his $20,000 video camera on the table right where we were talking and BOOM!!! Gone. So don't ever let your stuff outta your site, you might find it for sale on some dealers table 10 minutes later.

Because they're douche bags who probably thought "that's not worth that much, screw that I'm gonna steal it!"

I gotta feeling it wasn't someone who knew what was up. Probably some twat who only collects "Predator" action figures and replicas.

I stared at the photos of that painting, I don't know how many times, when they were first posted. It was mind boggling in intensity. This totally sucks.

I know, I did the same thing. I kept coming back to it and drooling at the detail. It actually took like the third time before I noticed the beak.
I really hope this was not heisted by a collector. In my short time here I can see the genuine appreciation this community feels for, and the support they give to artists and their work. I can't imagine anyone from here doing such a thing.
But I do wonder if this is an example of a growing societal trend, this sense of entitlement some people seem to have. No thought for the work/time that went into it, or the simple fact that it's someone else's property, just I WANT, I WANT. God, some people just plain suck.

Did he tell you what happened at the end of the day Sunday when one of the thieves little brother came asking where he was? That moment is forever etched on my brain.

That was classic. Best part was when we talked to him and he said the little fuckers kept coming back to his table trying to sell stuff to him they stole from other dealers. Workin it!

Indeed this FUCKING SUCKS. We too "lost" a couple little things over the run of the show but nothing near as important as an original piece.

In our four years in business with a retail location we've caught people stealing about a couple times....and probably had close to 100 things stolen in total. Ahhh...shrinkage.

That does suck. To me it doesn't matter what it is...og painting or dice. Stealing sucks especially for the people who work so hard to deliver a product.
it pisses me off.

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. Do you understand that? When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife’s right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. Do you see?"
