Post USPS problems
I was tracking a package that I should have received by now yesterday when I saw that they had tried to deliver it and were holding it at the post office. The tracking info says:
Quote:
We attempted to deliver your item at 8:47 AM on July 21, 2008and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I received no such notice. Does anyone have any idea what I will need at the post office to get this package? Is there anyone I can call or email to have it 'redelivered'? I've never had this problem before.

I had this problem a while ago. The site said they left me 3 notices, yet I didn't receive any of them.

I just went to the post office and got it, they just needed my ID.

Yeah. I think you only need a valid drivers license.

Just bring your address in your brain and a valid driver's license and they should be able to pull your package with that information. I'm pretty sure I've had to do this before- my old postal guy wasn't the greatest on certain days.

Getting no notice happens in Belgium all the time.

This used to be the story of my existence with my old postman. He would only sometimes leave a slip, sometimes not. I always would get pissed when it said he left a slip and I didn't find one. USPS is ok as long as you have ID to claim the package.

New postman is awesome. He rang the bell just to introduce himself and say "So you're the new guy getting all the packages and making me work?!" He was kidding of course, but at least he's not a weirdo like my last guy.

My new postman is the only saving grace of my neigborhood P.O. Great guy, and he actually does his job!

There's this new thing about EMS packages now: They try to deliver it once, then on the third day they leave a notice saying that on the fifth day they return it to the sender. kind of weird, but it's the new deal at my P.O.

KLaddict, just bring a valid Driver's License with current address--should be fine.

I noticed a change in the EMS too this last time. My postman, who is usually very cool and will tuck stuff out of site on my front porch because he knows I work rough hours and it's hard to get to the PO during normal business hours, left that 'pickup' slip the very first day he tried to deliver.. Maybe a rookie was flling in that day, so we'll see with my next EMS delivery which should come in a few days...

This is funny. I get so much stuff delivered by UPS that the UPS guy has formed a relationship with my weenie dog. He now leaves a few 'Milk Bones' with my packages if he has to run and doesn't have time to stop and play with him...

Hehe...I'm also getting to know all the postal workers around here pretty well. Japanese post rules pretty hard most of the time, there's even a 24 hour office where you can pick stuff up at night if you miss it during the day and don't want to wait.

They're the best. I'll never forget one day when I was overcharged by 42 cents and the postal worker showed up at my place 24 hours later with the change and a bunch of little goodies. Mind you my house was 40 minutes away from this post office. I would die of shock if a USPS worker went through that trouble.
