 Vintage Mecha Sofubi
Haven't posted for a bit.. Is anyone even interested in this shit? I know these REALLY suck, but that's why I love them! Gundam, Xabungle, Srungle, Dougram, Mugen Caliber, Sasuraiger... The list goes on. Am I the only one that cares about the bastard mech sofubi? Hmm? Who's got some? Clover Dunbine: Takatoku Macross: Sjoen

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
Ahh, so you got that Dunbine. Congrats. The others look great, too. Is the top of the antenna intact?

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
I can tell you the answer is no, but I've never seen one up close that had the antenna intact.

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
I used to have what I believe was a bootleg of the purple Dunbine, I never knew what it was until now. His antenna was also broke/manufacturing error. I got rid of him consequently. He came carded like an action figure. This was all before I collected sofubi.

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
Was the name "Astro Fighter" or something to that effect? I've seen those. I was told that a lot of those Dunbines were sold at Spencer Gifts in the 80s.

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
I don't think it had any English on the packaging. The back of the card was just unfinished brown cardboard.

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
Here's the English language version of the toy, next to the larger Clover diecast one. The toy is marked as having been made in Japan. There's also a Japanese version by Clover. Erik knows more about these than do I.

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
Ah, that's it, the "Space Warrior." I'm pretty sure Clover's factory was just cranking these out and running them out the back door. We have a Datafile on Dunbine here: http://toyboxdx.com/datafiles/data/dunbine/

 Re: Vintage Mecha Sofubi
That stuff is cool. Probably because I've been reading old throwaway comics from the eighties and early nineties lately. I remember wanting all that stuff in diecast and didn't even know there were sofubi versions. What a nice revelation!
