Post LASK SNOWBOARDERS?
I know what temperature it is outside...but 09 season goods and catalogues are starting to pop up from all the companies...what's up with a LASK day trip to summit/bear or something once the snow falls?

Sounds good!!

fyi, mt.High is awesome -- cheaper than big bear and a much easier drive. I bought a sixpak of tix to mt.high last year and it worked out to less than $30 a ticket. They've added lots of park features and other amenities over the past few years too.

I'd love to go, but being sadly unfit and the wrong side of 40 suggests I may come back in an ambulance rather than my car :(

I was just thinking about heading up to the mountain - but then I looked into ticket prices and decided against it. Still, I feel bad for never having gone summer boarding when I live an hour away from one of the only places where you can ride in the summer.
Ticket prices in Oregon have gotten ridiculous. It's more expensive to get a pass to one of the small "resorts" on Mt. Hood than it is to get a pass for two whole mountains in Whistler/Blackcomb! I got spoiled there and have hardly gone boarding since moving back to the states.

Yeah, the outside shots of the hotel in The Shining are of Timberline Lodge. The interior is of a hotel in CO - the Stanley Hotel (which can be seen on Ghost Hunters!).

NT, I don't know if people that live that close realize how blessed they are.
People go to the islands in the dead of winter, I'd rather be shredding Mt. Hood in shorts in the middle of the summer.

I know, I kinda feel like an ass for not going - but at $50+ for one chair and half a day...I just can't justify it. I need to pick up something like kite boarding where it's free once you've bought the equipment. Only problem with kite boarding is you can't exactly just go out and teach yourself like you can with snowboarding.

Fuck kite boarding, skateboard!

If anyone is coming to do some snowboarding in BC this winter let me know, I think I'm going to get back into it this year and will probably head up to Whistler at least a couple times.

Oh believe me - I've tried. I was never any good though. And wiping out on cement sucked! And now I'm too old to give it another try.
Skateboarding is/was the activity I most wanted to be good at because it's so cheap compared to other sports and can be done anywhere. In the long run kite boarding would be cheaper than snowboarding, and depending on where I went the drive wouldn't be as long.
