 Re: masters of the universe...
MOTU will always be my first fight figure. Was the coolest toys then and still holds a strong place in my heart today.
But screw the new style, old school with the squishy head is the way to go.

 Re: masters of the universe...
man, that shelf of all the figs above is totally awesome! i bet it was a I FART A LOT getting them all to stand up. i guarantee that some of them are leaing on others for standing support......and keeping them standing would suck too! hell, you walk through the room a little heavier-footed than usual and at least 20% of them will tip over. that's always been my problem with displaying action figures....
as for the release date, it doesn't give much info. i think they will gradually come out, in waves, like the newer g.i. joe line. the closest statement is that the main Masters characters will be first, but by 2009 more fan-demanded characters will be coming out....so i'm guessing very soon....

 Re: masters of the universe...
It says in the toyfare artical that the figures will be released one figure a month, with the preview of the new figure being put on the web site on the 1st of each month, starting in Sept.

Yeah the last line from NECA fucking sucked. I mean they totally beefed up Orko. WTF. This one looks pretty true.

 Re: masters of the universe...
my current MOTU collection is pretty weak. it consists of the following: 1. 2. 3. a few dozen half-broken, loose-jointed, scratched paint figures that my son chews the hell out of the soft heads..... .....this new line should really breathe some life into the collection.

I'm curious what modern toy lines (vinyl or otherwise) that people see the influence of MOTU upon.

I'm just starting to see alot of the, erm, MOTU magic shining through in alot of the RxH stuff. I was just wondering if other people agreed or felt that way about other lines.

 Re: masters of the universe...
the make of the new MOTU line is almost like SOTA's new street fighter line. Hopefully the new MOTU isn't as fragile. I'd probably only display these anyway, but it feels good to know that you could break down and stage an all-out battle if you wanted to, you know ...play with the toys...right guys?

I've got both of the King Grayskulls and they're pretty sturdy.

Did anyone ever put Evil-Lyn and the other female MOTU figures into compromising scenarios? I'm not saying that I did!!! ... Okay, I did.

 Re: masters of the universe...
i grew up on eternia and still visit often, so im happy that there is still enough interest for something like this to work, and i think these are leaps and bounds better than the last two lines of motu toys. that said, these dont really wave my flag, even though they family decently with the originals.
its partially the joints that break it, but also that they are made pretty realistically, at least in terms of proportion and stance. i always loved the goofy, akward stance of the old figures, just that little bit of deformation made all the difference, for me at least. ive never really cared for realistic toys, it always just feels like a shelf full of miniature people, rather than something thats jacked in some way.
i am pretty curious to see more characters though...

 Re: masters of the universe...
It's cool to see all this stuff from my childhood still alive. It's like I turn on Saturday morning cartoons and there are new TMNT and GI Joe series. And it shows how impactful and how strong the concepts are. Hell, the reason it's still around is because nothing new has been able to take the crown. But at the same time, it's just not the same as the originals, give me G1 or give me death.

I still have the bootlegs (if you could call them that) some of them are better than the masters figs.

 Re: masters of the universe...
Hmm. Seeing the new Skelletor kinda bums me out on these. Beastman is awesome. He-man is OK. Skelletor is crap IMO. Gonna pass I think.
