I guess the hype has died down. We got a very small amount of these and they are still up. Where are all the RxH fans?

Collector fatique + afterall, its a very small collector community with more quitters then stayers. I don't think its only RxH that is seeing eroding interest. The same is observed for most other lines. Its definitely one of the better time to be a new collector now, its a buyer market.

The colors on these seem funky to me - but I wonder if its just the pictures that don't do the figs justice . . .
I'm always MUCH more impressed with the figure in hand than with the pics up in the webstore.

 Re: New RxH up
As a lot of people have said, there's just been too much, too fast this year (from a lot of companies - not just RxH).
Plus, as Mori told me last month, he has increased production numbers, at least for the newer minis, making it easier to get them. But that's a double edged sword when you're making/selling collectibles, and Mori knows that. It's a tough line to walk.
As someone posted, there are a small number of people buying this stuff. There's just far too much coming out, and people are cutting back on what they already have and being very careful about what new figures they buy. Last year, when you could expect maybe a few figures a month from this or that company, you'd buy without hesitation. But when there are 5 or 10 releases in a month, you're going to hold back and pick and choose your favorites.
Anyway, I think the whole "hurry up and buy it before it sells out" culture is destructive. It just feeds the hype machine and the fad cycle mentality. When I "I can't believe it hasn't sold out yet!" posts start popping up, it's a pretty good sign there's a fad/hype element at work.
A more dangerous trend is people "vulture collecting" - holding off on buying anything and scoping out the Sale section for bargains on relatively new figures (and even low balling you when your prices are far below retail!)

I'm glad july is over and SDCC is only once a year. That killed me and I didn't even attend.
So S7 is getting that Akro?

Dude, I'm totally doing this next year--except for the low balling part. I'm kicking myself for spending as much as I did for some figures. After-event sales are the bomb dot com.

 Re: New RxH up
With the introduction of the RxH minis (and they are very cool, production quality is excellent) there is almost 3x the amount of funds necessary if you have wanted to collect even 70% of the mini releases. Minis cost 40 bucks each compared to a standard figure's 60-65 bucks each, and it certainly feels like there have been more minis released this year (including multi figure packs) thus far. And I'm not even counting the increase in fortune cat releases....
Larger figure format releases have slowed just slightly compared to 2007. So, if you want to buy even one mini release in addition to the standard size format figure, your RxH spending budget jumped 60%.
I also agree that RxH isn't the only company that's cranked up releases. There have been a bunch of cool new characters that have been produced in vinyl: Ojo Rojo, Eaton, Tokoji Seijin, Hone Borg, Usugrow, Himalan, Nano, Anokoron, Zombie, Squirm, Visighost...and more. Some of these newer characters are also in the $75-100 range too. These new toys are keeping things fresh, but are also contributing to wallet drain.
Honestly it requires some serious discipline to collect only what you really really really REALLY like. Its hard to do this when you see collection pics of the same character, but different release paints. For example, recently a pic of all the Hone Borg releases lined up on someone's shelf got me a bit more interested in hunting some of those down. I see comments from many longtime board members effusing a more selective mantra, and I am beginning to believe it is the only way to enjoy a broader selection of these releases without feeling financially worn all the time.
Still, I can't wait to throw a wad of cash at the next Zombie releases or that Stormtrooper jumbo!!!!! Rocket firing fist baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of the older rxh collectors seem to pick and choose pieces because they know the reality is that you can never get all of them.

 Re: New RxH up
Yeah, I never got into Real Head outside of Ichibanoshi just because it was too hard to get new. Now that it seems like it's more obtainable and figures actually sit around for a little bit, I'm tempted, but i just feel like I've already missed too much to start now.

Well if you LIKE them I'm gonna say that's a bad reason. Who cares, do you HAVE to be a completist? Just get what you can of what you like, no pressure on having to go back and get some tremendous collection. Have a toy collection, not a "RxH collection" or an "SB Collection" etc. as long as you like them enough and can afford them. Don't limit yourself.

A lot of the older rxh collectors seem to pick and choose pieces because they know the reality is that you can never get all of them. I believe in balance---its impossible to have everything (even the toy designers themselves, or long time collectors admits). You just buy the toys that you like. An observation: even if its true that there are a lot of new rxh collectors now, who "buys", there are also a lot of collectors also who "sells", almost at the same time when a new release takes place. So, in most cases, i guess there might be heavy competition only during the release...but wait it out for a few weeks, even days, that same toy will be sold, and for almost at retail, even a little lower. I just find it hard to believe that it happened to the s7 rxh minis and the bruised---some people decided to sell afterwards. I thought at first, these rxh's would be the toughest to track down once it sold out from the site or the distros.

 Re: New RxH up
yeah, I think so too. I generally don't like to trade or sell these days, but it goes back to "I can't have everything". sometimes to get something, you have to give something up (that doesn't suck).
the bruised set is really awesome, and the minis are pretty kewl, but I'm really into the regular random colorway fight figures. This new Bigaro is my favorite in the line--aside from the impossible metallic painted GID ones from the early days.

 Re: New RxH up
I'm guessing there will be another "bump" in RxH hype at some point - maybe next spring. I'm also betting that the quality of releases won't suffer between now and then. Mori's been hot all year. It probably wouldn't hurt if the pace of new releases slowed down for a while, especially the sets.
I went for this Bigaro. The new Akro's sweet but my heart belongs to the pink bubble.
