Vinyl Paradise Mongler. One of my favorite toy lines, and this ver. of Mongler is awesome.

The chunky funk of the VPs may turn some people off, but they really (intentionally?) captured the clunky toy feel of early sofubi.

Cool to see someone else appreciating VP. I totally agree that these really capture the idea of what soft vinyl was intended to be. A toy. Big, rough, chunky and haphazardly painted. Not to jack your thread, but here's a shelf with some of my VP goodies.



These were some of my very first soft vinyl toys that I actually started "collecting". If you've got more Hyper, I'd like to see em!

The big brown Baragon is an all-time fave.

He totally is the best baragon ever. Something about the expression on the face just says "it's awesome being me!"

That guy would be the "Two-Headed Monster Daburion" from what I can find. Or just Daburion. Awesome is what he is.

Ok I think this picture has piqued my interests in some new (for me) Kaiju- the larger is an M1GO Peter, but what are the two little guys? I think I need to get one or two of them if I can. =)

I love all the Vinyl Paradise figures!! This one would be the Marmit VP-083 Dublion/ Daburion (ダブリオン) double-headed monster from Japanese episode 8 of Toei's Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot ("The Challenge of the Two Headed Monster").


You can check out that specific episode for free on Hulu.com as well as the rest of the first shows from the 1969 US-released TV series. Good retro stuff !!!
