 Re: Metal Buff Monster Toy
I dunno. Whereas the standard vinyl Buffs boobs appear to be all-natural, these FV metal ones seem to have bargain-basement-surgeon-in-El-Salvador fake boobs, right down to the perma-erect nipple.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

 Re: Metal Buff Monster Toy
No. The El Salvador hack doctor tits would be all lopsided and scarred. These are clearly the "Beverly Hills Doc to the Stars" milkers. The metal toys aren't really my thing. But I would love to see more customs from Buff and more established artist participation here. It's weak that people feel free to rag on artists and their work on messageboards when they (more than likely) wouldn't do it in person.

 Re: Metal Buff Monster Toy
I love Buff's work. I think's it FV's fault as their sculpts are consistently just slightly, well, off.

I don't own any just because of lack of funds but both Bwana and Baseman's metals were brilliant, and even this one is far behind them. I like the idea or these not just being small metal versions of existing work. They come off as more of a step out of the norm from most the artists Ive seen create one... I dunno maybe its just me

Buff is one of the nicest people I know. In fact so is Dead Prez. I am a fan of their work because they are driven. They have passion and I think we all know that sometimes passion takes president over participation. Both of these guys have been given the short end of the stick here because of what they do but the the proof is they make toys look cool. Really isn't that what is all about?

I dunno maybe its just me They are definitely unique, but I think they're poor copies of existing sculpts. I believe these FV metals would look pretty god as a set, but if you put this Buff, for instance, with the rest of your Buff collection, it would look odd because it is slightly off, sculpt-wise. Again, just my opinion...

 Re: Metal Buff Monster Toy
one thing that may be worth mention--that I at least didn't figure out until I was told--is that this is an image of ONE figure. The single sculpt has a face on either side, giving it a bit more mystique. For me, at least.
I still wish the boobs had that more pillow-y vibe like the vinyls, but, then again, this is metal. Not very pillow-y.
All in all, were I an artist, and I had the chance to cast my creation like this, it might be very attractive. Seems like a nice notch in the belt to have...a gold record, as it were, to commemorate today, leaving me free to move onto tomorrow. I do think Loco is onto something, however: guys like Buff and Martin and Biskup are painters first, and into toys second. I always got the impression that they were into this stuff for a fun, creative release from their 'day job', glamorous as it might be.
Oh well. I'm excited to see the new customs when they arrive. I for one would LOVE to see a BM Eyezon or Rangeas, not to mention--of course--more zags of all shapes and sizes.
