The $200 mark looks a bit daunting to pay given that many people are short of cash or rather spend that money on other toys that they are really wanting as first priority. If my memory serves me well (most of the time it doesn't  ) I remember the previous DD retailed for less, about $150 for a set in Japan.

I think I would have bought the green one if they sold them separately.

Retail for RxH in the US is always more than retail in Japan though, right? This would be the first case of the Dogs being a US exclusive too so I don't think any of us knew and hoped for less. My guess was between $150 and $200 for the set, I was right!

Surely there's someone here who just wants the Red Cyclops dog, I was expecting a lot more "I only want this one who wants to split?" style posts myself.

I was too tired last night waiting for the Buy Me link to appear. I even emailed the guy to ask if I can go to bed since the link won't be up until the sun came up in HK. Didn't get a reply so I went to bed at 4am. I also didn't know the price and thought it would be cheaper. If I did I would have posted the "Need Green anyone want an orange?" post. While waiting on the forum I spent over $200 on RxH toys so now I skint.

Well, yeah, again with the price, if these go new in Japan for $150 for 2, I think it's only logical an American set would be more. That's more of the point I'm trying to make on the price, which seems to be surprising some.

$60-$70 is standard RxH in the US, what do those same figures go for in Japan?

Anyway, the Dogs were never the most popular figures either. So less popular + a lot of cash I bet some have a good chance at waiting a bit and STILL getting these.

The market tells the feedback.
This is the 1st time I saw rxh dogs are unsold for hours

BUT this is the first time they've been offered through a US site, again why the price is what it is. This is the first time MANY of us have seen the dogs offered at all. Plus, like I mentioned, in the US the dogs aren't so hot.

I gotta give credit to Zakka, first shop RxH exclusive and he picks one of the more obscure and less popular figures. Most would have just done a Chaos or an Evil or the Minis, but this dude said "SCREW IT! DOGS RULE!" Big ups.

If this was an exclusive set of 20 of nearly ANY of the more "normal" RxH figs they'd sell out in less than a min. I'm sure.

A big thing that might have helped this sale is a release time and price with a slightly earlier notification. People could have saved up or something, been ready. I knew the time, I just emailed them and asked, but couldn't get the price.

Excited to see the MG5 exclusive now!

Around the same price in Japan retail shops like KT and Charactics.
For me, I like the dogs (I have 3 sets) but not enough to buy them at that price considering shipping costs for these heavy items also. I doubt my comment would influence any fan.

I kind of like how RxH has died down from the unnecessary hype though. It just makes purchasing much more peaceful for me.

I don't know what Garadama is on about... I guess he is just interested in the market/value side of things since he sold all of his during the peak season.

Not exactly at the peak, most of my items are bought at the peak and sold at the downhill but not the bottom as now. Just right at the moment when I have to pay the medical bills for my parents.
I love RxH, I appreciate Mori's every piece of art and his talented work, the seducing limited items.
Glad I can control well coz I realized my toys really can't help when family need money for emergency (I suck I don't have enough reserve and not well controlled financially). I can't afford toy collection at this moment while I am planning to have a baby next year and need some reserve for my eldered parents. Toys collection is fun but it kills a lot of time and money which I can't afford at this stage, especially the opportunity cost.

When I get out of work I'll slap something together, though I'm sure there's gotta be something somwhere on the boards for days past.

Pretty much they're slightly taller than a RxH guy (about 7" 1/2 ish) have massive noggins and are around as long as a lot of standard kaiju are tall (7"-8"ish.)

Big space hogs, very 3D though. As far as displaying goes they can be a challenge, another reason they're not as popular. I'm even considering letting my silver flake set go, not sure if my collection can handle 2 dog sets and I think i dig these gaudy/brighter one's more.

But for me the fun of toys are more than display, they're very tactile and fun to handle.
