Post Is it wrong to do this?
First off let me tell everyone I have very sensitive hearing. I can hear soft sounds from very far away. I also try to maintain being reasonable about it. This is my problem:

I have a new neighbor in my apartment complex who at 3pm everyday has his alarm go off. Normally this would not bug me as I work weird hours at times to. I'm home at that hour at least 5 times a week. Problem is the jackass sleeps through his alarm and then hits snooze button every 10 minutes or so for about 2 and half hours. The walls are thick here (as I learned when I punched the wall the noise was coming from twice and hurt my hand) but I still hear this damn alarm going off every 10 minutes or so for over 2 hours.

Now I could call my complex manager and complain but honestly what are they going to do? We just moved in July and the new neighbor probably 3 weeks ago. They also seem very laissez-faire about anything going on in the buildings. I called to have a window and the dryer in the basement fixed and nothing happened.

I'm thinking of writing the guy a note and leaving it on his door? Is that a dick move? My initial response would be horrific and mean saying something like "Listen fuckwad turn your god damn alarm off!" but that probably would not be wise. Maybe try and be nice? It's really driving me up a wall.

Your eardrums need to man up and grow a pair...

kidding kidding, I jest.

What I would do would politely talk to him one and one and document it with the front office. If you actually have a true medical condition make sure you get that documented and with the office. You never know if you may need to move out you got something of a case to reason why in case you wind up in small claims or with a lean on ya.

Good luck, remember honey over vinegar.

I think a letter would be a good thing to do. I know some ppl can be dicks, but if I was the guy, I wouldn't get all drippy about a letter.

Just go and talk to him. I have had some odd neighbors and talking usually works. Juts be patient and try and be as nice as possible. Once they understand you gripe and see that your a cool guy they may and respect you more.

OR

You can do what I had to do once. Wait until things drive you nuts then go there in nothing but your boxers at 2 in the morning with sleep in your eyes and anger in your fists !!! that usually gets the job done.

Well the alarm is going off at 3pm and not 3am. Also, what if he had music playing...would it still annoy you? Probably you shouldn't get too worked up. I think the right thing to do is to talk to him or leave him a letter. Keep it civil and respectful. Most people don't want confrontation and want to get along with their neighbors. But if he acts like an ass, you should smash his fucking face in and pop a cap in his knee.

I had a roommate that would do this. It is most irritating.

I like the letter idea, since it allows both of you to communicate without 'heat of the moment' issues. I would also copy management on the letter, so that they have a written record of the exchange.

I had a roommate that did this, too. To "correct" him we just unplugged his clock. Every night he had to reset it, then set the alarm. Only took about two weeks for the conditioning to take hold.

Yeah we also had a roomate who used to do this and many other things...like leaving the apt with every light on, crank the heat, open some windows, and basically leave the door wide open when he left the house- all in the middle of winter . He was severely corrected.

Yeah I like the letter idea. I'm not trying to be too confrontational. But if acts like an ass I'm open to Bob's suggestion :)

Seriously though I understand the concept of snooze button, but if you're going to hit it for 2-3 hrs straight just set your alarm for a later time? Common sense.

Just talk to the dude. As long as you keep your cool and talk honestly things might just turn out fine. Your neighbor prolly don't know that his alarm habit is disturbing anyone. Odds are he'll make efforts to fix the problem. Worst scenario, If he keeps doing it atleast he wont be so surprised if you decide to pound his face in.
