 Warhammer online?
Anyone give this a whirl yet? While pretty much all online games don't interest me, this one does. I've played GW games since the early 80's and this is quite exciting to find out that they put out a solid MMO for Warhammer. Mmm...tasty Chaos

 Re: Warhammer online?
I heard about this last week and was quite excited. Then I went to visit the website and felt lost. I'm just waiting on Diablo III.

Yeah, the website is HORRIBLE... too busy being "cool" and not even close to being informative.

 Re: Warhammer online?
The game is pretty good. It is a lot easier to get into than just about any MMORPG that is currently out. It is like playing WoW with a few of the more popular mods included. The UI is customizable (move bars, add action bars, and all that), the quest trackers is just about as idiot proof as can be (I haven't heard anyone whining in chat about where a certain quest it), and you can get into PvP (RvR as it is called) at the start. You don't have to wait 10 levels to start beating on other players...although it might be a good idea so you don't get owned in battlegrounds. I was bummed when I learned there were no Chaos dwarfs. So far, I like it. Public Quests are great cause you don't have to sit around and wait..only to have someone steal your kill. It is also the easiest way to get nice gear. I have no idea what the end game will be like. I'm not sure what Locomoco or Joe are saying. I've found everything I needed from the website. I also played Warhammer...but I played 40K instead. You might as well grab a copy since you get a month free. So far I haven't decided on what class to play. I really hate elven armor and their conehead helmets so count them out. Be sure you read the box for computer specs. I know my computer's CPU is just under the min-spec but I log in about an hour or 2 a couple times a week. My game ends up laggy but I don't care. I just want to play. http://www.warhammeronline.com/

 Re: Warhammer online?
my wife has the oddest piece of collectibility ever.
it's a warhammer, and it's got the hamilton collection style painting technique of a white wolf in the middle of snow covered forest. it's crazy weird and amazing at the same time. usually, you see the typical dragon breathing fire in the midst of a volcano or something painted over the blade or hammer of some medievil weapon when it comes to this type of thing, but i've never seen a wolf. it can almost be considered a collaboration.
as for online gaming, i've never heard of warhammer. the last online game i've played was Ultima Online. I have a friend who has been hounding me to play WoW though.....

 Re: Warhammer online?
Oh, that's a different website than the one I'd seen previously... the one I saw just had a bunch of large images of the races with impossible to find hotspots to get more information.

I lost a good solid year of spare time playing that horrid game...it just zombifies you and drives you through the same motions for hours, every once in a while you level up and you get a little squirt of dopamine/serotonin. "ahh" it almost rewrites your brain...maybe I'm just more susceptible than most, but I'm kind of wary of most MMO's. My greatest fear is that the fallout-mmo will end up actually getting made....i won't be able to resist it if it does. http://pc.ign.com/articles/913/913068p1.html

Fallout 3 isn't multiplayer (yet) and that is the one I've been waiting for since FO2!

 Re: Warhammer online?
The fallout MMO is an entirely different turkey than fallout 3... actually because Bethesda currently holds the license for fallout, the MMO might not see full realization, because it is being developed by an entirely different company. Maybe they'll get caught in a duke nukem-esque developmental hell and I'll be spared the hours upon hours of addiction. *crosses fingers*

 Re: Warhammer online?
I wish companies would do more with 40K. Dawn of War is pretty cool but I want more. Maybe an FPS 40K.

I'm thinking something with a much better pace to it...on the battlefield...kinda like CoD4 in the 40K setting. That would just be awesome.

 Re: Warhammer online?
yeah, space hulk was pretty cool at the time but these days it doesn't stand up. since 40K is more squad base GW went with more of the RTS game situations than for FPS. Which is too bad but I could see them doing something along the lines of an Inquisitor -- then you could have a FPS / adventure game. Man, I'd love to be able to root out rogue psykers So I spent an hour trying to get Warhammer Online installed. My laptop is new and a multimedia computer and it still took that long for the install and the updates. jeez... Well, the one surprise was that on the box and most every site they say that you need 1GB RAM. No problem there...although when I dug around on the WO site I found that if you have Vista you need 2GB RAM! Damn Now I have to figure on whether to take this back (or try to) or upgrade to 2 GB RAM. The game looked cool though!
