Krudler, definitely a one off, congratulations.

Seems like each of the one-offs were given an English 'name.' At least we don't have to make them up now.

Ah ha, so the Dorol codenamed 'Magenta' wasnt actually a special version of the standard red one- but one of the handpainted one offs called 'Magenta.'

Correct!!
it seems that each of the one-offs got a "name".
I have seen now MORE than 35 different versions, almost 40 different ones I think,
so scoring the red "production" one (out of 20) seems to be harder than getting a one-off (out of 35-40)

I may be wrong- but I have a feeling that there are 40 of the red ones aswell, their in the process of making their way stateside.

So that would be 40 of each- which makes sense.

I think the 1/20 number came from the inventory numbers on the initial sale on the shikaruna website....I'm pretty sure there are more than 20, as there were some sold at the festival and beyond.

Were these sold on the website? My understanding is that it was an event-only release of 20 pieces (although there were probably more than 20 made in total).

I didn't actually see them in stock on the website, but one morning i saw them there as "sold out",....so they might not have been sold on the website at all, but they possibly were. I'm not 100% certain either way.

Post Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database
I think Shikaruna lists event or special items immediately as sold out, as with the bonus figures with the Giant Zag. If it's a web/mail order item it will be in stock for say a day tops.

From the looks of things and this is just me speculating here, HP numbers appear to be approaching 40. I've counted close to that so far and I'm saving pics of all of them. Where as the red numbers appear to be lower. Either way you win if you own one from a rarity stand point. I mean Shikaruna is notoriously low numbered to begin with but if you own a HP you own a one of a kind, if you own a red one you own a really low number figure, even by Shikaruna standards.

I've just been turned on to Shikaruna Koubo but find their stuff impossible to find. Any leads? Or do they sell out that quickly?

Yup! Very very quickly! Most of the runs are 50 or less. Chances of buying at retail are almost zero. ( except maybe in Japan). Your best bet would be ebay of YAJ.

I like the mini maity's too...though i'm leaning towards the clear yellow....I hope they make a full size to match it, what i really want them to make ...is a nicely articulated mini poseidon. I would kill for that.

I like how some mini's are done. These seem to be some of the better mini's IMO because they dont seem to have that warped kinda look some mini's have or disproportionate appendages. I really like the Shika mini's

the only drawback about shikaruna....is that nothing looks good beside it, it makes everything look like crap (except for other shikaruna)

Thats a great thing, I love toys that stand on their own, so to speak. These def hold their own ground IMO. That Zag was the first I had ever seen in person and the sculpt on it was phenomenally good. Gave me a real respect for Shikaruna figures.
