I'm about 99% sure this is just the unpainted head from Datas set. Lately it seems like I hear everyone calling unpainted figures protos. What's correct, unpainted or proto?

I suppose it depends. Unpainted, to me, are figures that there is more than one of. Protos are kinda like one offs. Like if they are going to do a run of a figure they get a test color, then that gets held, later given away or sold as a rare proto. Or if they hold only a small few but not large enough to be a run and not with the sole purpose to be sold as a release.Unpainted are meant to be sold, just without paint, full run size with that sole intent.

Okay, so for instance I have a unpainted mini clear mutant head. I've only seen a few and they were not sold and only given away as gifts. Unpainted or proto? Or how about the black unpainted mummy boy. I wouldn't say it was a solid release, there were what I think, less than 10 available to the public. Unpainted or proto?

Hmmm I would say proto. Booth where very small issued releases ( if you call them that) and not intended nor marketed as a 'release". Yes some made it out but neither where

But proto isnt just a unpainted figure, in some cases its the first figure that the colorway was inspired from.

This is my thoughts on proto vs. unpainted. I'm not sure if this is the standard but just my thoughts.

Chance yes, there will always be a chance, but it will be very very difficult.

I was so happy to see that jar in the shop thinking it is some kind of a reward for folks trekking all the way to aoto on the re-opening day. Especially when they were placed like the flesh sets which were for sale.
Like lottery prizes when u buy above a certain limit or whatsoever. But didn't turn out that way

Update.....I'm very close to tracking down all the RxH figures I want. Thanks to the board members that have helped out thus far.
