Shit. I can only see the third photo that Greg posted (Kaiju's Blood).
I agree that he doesn't look very Japanese. That's an aspect I really like about him. He reminds me of older Mattel-type toys from my childhood for some reason. Like a villain from a cartoon, but designed, sculpted, painted and detailed by Japanese masters of the trade.

That monster was on the cover of Famous Monsters 1969 Annual lock stock and barrel. I think Mr. Bemonmaker nailed it dead to rights. even the colors (on the green) are the same. bansheebot wrote: Shit. I can only see the third photo that Greg posted (Kaiju's Blood).

 Re: 2 Headed-Bemon querry...
I really don't think this is a dumb question, but how the eff do they pay for the mold (esp. for something so complicated) if they have put out a total of less than 30 pcs?!? I know they'll do more, but that just boggles my mind...
and upsets me because I did start thinking I wanted to search for a red one...scrap that idea.

 Re: 2 Headed-Bemon querry...
Lorne, the initial expenses for the mold is usually the most expensive part of the process, but once it is realized and making of toys begin, this very mold can be used over and over and over. I.e. Bemon uses the same sculpt from day 1--and its still super hot!
Initial cash outlay can be easily recouped---the "limited" number aspect is really up to the artist or the producer of the toy--on how long he wants his return of investments.
I presume, Mr. Honda is not really in a hurry to get his investments back, but rather more focussed on his masterpiece and its outcome.
My two cents....

Just got the red in Its an edition of 30 I have # 4 . I was honestly shocked as this guy was way harder to find. Maybe because of color or because after the first release the want grew, who knows. But in hand its amazing. Don't know if I would say better than the first, but for sure in a direction thats getting better not worse. It has a more sinister presence that's for sure. Again 1 of the top 3 best sculpts of all time for me. I still cant believe I scored him !

 Re: 2 Headed-Bemon querry...
Hey Jay your pic really shows off something I like about how these are painted. If you look at the black you will see just how gentle and precise he is. There is no masking and some how he is able to get solid black on the little horns without getting paint in the little space between the horns. And in the eye socks and mouth. Super clean work like always.
Is it Honda ..Yoda ?? who paints these. I'm still in confusion as to who exactly who is who with Bemon.
All I know is that CKA is the shop.

The starting bid I believe on the last ones were 200 or 300 but both had BINs for 500. On the green I scored it for I think 32,000 yen. And I think it was becaus eit was a new sculpt and no one knew how rare or if it would be loved. I loved it from the jump so I went in. The second green sold on a BIN for 50,000 yen. Now for the red I have no clue because i missed it. But like you said I think it was 50,000 yen. I scored mine from a friend in Japan. But it cost me as he didn't get it from CKA at release. It was bought second hand for 500.00 But I REALLY love these guys. I hope to score the next one If I could find one for a 20-30,000 yen BIN I wouldnt think twice. But its gonna be hard and I think that goes from here on out. But what else is new with Bemon.

 Re: 2 Headed-Bemon querry...
It's a cool sculpt...no doubt about it. But $500? Eff that...
I guess I'm old fashioned, but if I can't hunt something down for a semi-reasonable price or trade, I'm probably gonna pass on it. This is indeed a really cool toy, but at the end of the day it's still a toy...A toy...and I always know I could find a nice bunch of toys for the price of one really cool 2 headed Bemon.
well, now that you high rollers have yours hopefully LS can get his...
