Art Storm - Dada, Kemur, Zarab
Was surfin through Art Storm's website and came across this upcoming trio set release/pre-order. Needless to say I'm stunned by the colors and sculpt. I'm only familiar with their Fewture Ex-Gokin line so can anyone shed some light on these along with Art Storm's vinyl qualities? Doesn't seem like it's been discussed around here but I've always found them rather impressive through website images. http://artstorm.co.jp/umezu_ultraman_zarabdadakemull.htm楳図かずお版ウルトラマンシリーズ フィギュア王誌上限定版 ザラブ星人・三面怪人ダダ・ケムール人 楳図カラーver.

Great find! 9-10" tall standard size kaiju. Not sure about vinyl quality. I think it says they are painted by Kazuo Umezu of Fewture Models in collaboration with Tsuburaya. Release in December.

Re: Art Storm - Dada, Kemur, Zarab
oops, that can't be right because Kazuo Umezu is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazuo_UmezuEdit: Well, I think Kazuo did create the colorways on these. Very cool!

Re: Art Storm - Dada, Kemur, Zarab
Those figures are based on designs from Kazuo Umezu's Ultraman comic from the 60's. Those are the Umezu paint version, so I think he designed the paint job (although they're not HP by any stretch).
Art Storm has great sculpts and I love the Umezu designs, but all of their stuff is made in China so I'm a bit biased against their vinyl quality. Its a hard, plastic-ey vinyl that shows off the sculpt well but doesn't add anything texture-wise. Paint apps are usually solid, though. Also, Art Storm stuff is usually made in large runs (50-100 or so), so these might not be too hard to score even after the pre-sale.

I can thoroughly accept made in China vinyls provided that they're of Eyezon quality or better. It's great to know that the paint app is solid which was what intrigued me in the first place.

Re: Art Storm - Dada, Kemur, Zarab
I got one of the first pieces from this series, Fuji, and was pretty disappointed with the chew-toyish, matte Chinese vinyl. However, as mentioned above, the sculpt and paint are the star here.
