 Monsta Island Czars
For the rap fans -
None of this is new, but I've been listening to it again lately and it relates to all the kaiju and Japanese vinyl on these boards.
Monsta Island Czars: Escape from Monsta Island
Group album including King Geedorah, Jet Jaguar, Rodan, King Cesar, Megalon, Gigan, etc
King Geedorah (aka MF Doom): Take Me To Your Leader
Jet Jaguar (aka MF Grimm): Digital Tears
There's also a Rodan solo album, but I can't find a picture for it cos I can't remember the album name. If anyone is super interested I'll grab it when I get home.
Anyway, the only album that really relates musically to the Japanese monster movies is the King Geedorah album. It uses lots of dialog from the movies. It's also the most accessible of the albums - I highly recommend it. I like the others a lot too, but unless you're really into rap you might not dig them (though the Jet Jaguar one might be more accessible than Rodan and MIC). Anyway, just thought I'd post these albums up for anyone interested.

I'm pretty sure "Digital Tears" is sold out and hasn't had a 2nd pressing. You should be able to get King Geedorah pretty much anywhere - but if you can't seem to find it try www.sandboxautomatic.com. Actually, no, never ever shop there...I forgot that I started boycotting them a couple years back. Ummm, do you live near a Tower Records? They should have King Geedorah. If you have problems locating it let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Weird, I grabbed that pic of KG from sandbox. I'll see what I can do about burning copies of those albums for ya then. Just a warning - don't hold your breath because I'm super bad about getting over to the post office even once I have something packaged up!

Oh, yeah they don't have the Jet Jaguar album (not even Grimm has it for sale anymore), I thought you were saying you didn't see King Geedorah at Sandbox. Besides, I'd rather hook you up with a copy than have you spend money at Sandbox (eff them!).
I'll get you a copy of Jet Jaguar since it's OOP. I'd rather not burn copies of indie albums that are still available like King Geedorah because I'd rather people directly support the musicians. But again, I'd rather make a copy than have you support Sandbox!
Anyway, once I get around to making copies I'll PM you for your mailing info...

Thanks man
You know I support the artist but sometimes the only way I feel I'm doing this is if I buy dircetly from them. Buying from a secondary retailer I never know where the money is going and the artist only gets the smalest cut.
I realy appreciate it and if there is anything you ever need drop me a PM !
O and whats the deal with SBA ?

Oh, right...duh! Sorry, brain's fried.
Well, I use to order from Sandbox a while back. I had general gripes over their shipping on several orders. One shipment after several weeks they told me it had shipped and then a couple weeks later I FINALLY got it with a shipping lable that had been printed two days prior. But the big thing that made me boycott them was this:
I ordered Digital Tears from them. It arrived, I liked it. BUT, there were some flaws in the pressing and two of the tracks skipped. There weren't any visiable scratches, so it was just a flawed press. I emailed SBA and told them what was up and they gave me an authorization to send it back. I sent it back with a description of where the skips occured and asked for a new copy. Several weeks go by and I don't hear anything from them. I email them. They email back and said that they weren't going to send me a new copy because they didn't find any skips and they figured I just didn't like the album so what was the point in sending me a new one! I pointed out that I specifically asked for a new copy and not an exchange so why would they think I didn't like the album. Besides - they've gotta give me something...you can't take back the album and not refund my money. So they eventually refunded my money.
But they were serious assholes. I shoulda kept the emails. I actually got Grimm involved - on my last email to Sandbox I CC'd Grimm on the entire email chain. Grimm was cool enough to send me a free copy of Digital Tears, personalized, plus a copy of "Special Herbs and Spices". So Grimm is great and Sandbox can suck it!

Amazing story NT !!
To be able to get the artist involved is crazy. I bought from them about 4 -5 times never really had any problems but the shipping was a few weeks.
I usually just delt with it. And its the reason I havent bought from them again.
I must say I give Grimm a lot of respect for doing what he did for ya. Thats where its at.
