 Eight-year-old shoots self with Uzi
Sorry to clutter the board with stupid stuff, but this was so OMG, WTF, i could not resist. As the title states, an 8 year old shot himself with an Uzi, under adult supervision!! http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/10/27/boy.sh ... pstoryviewQuote: WESTFIELD, Massachusetts (AP) -- An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair.
The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club, Police Lt. Lawrence Valliere said.
The boy was with a certified instructor and "was shooting the weapon down range when the force of the weapon made it travel up and back toward his head, where he suffered the injury," a police statement said. Police called it a "self-inflicted accidental shooting."
The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he died. His name was not released.
Although the death appears to be an accident, police and the Hampden district attorney's office were investigating, officials said.
The club said on its Web site that the event, run in conjunction with C.O.P. Firearms and Training, is "all legal and fun." People will be allowed to fire weapons at vehicles, pumpkins and other targets, it said.
Officials with the private club and the firearms group could not be reached for comment. A message left on a club answering machine was not returned. The C.O.P. group's machine clicked off without taking a message.
The sportsman's club was founded in 1949 and describes itself on its Web site as an organization that promotes "the interest of legal sport with rod, gun, and bow and arrow, both directly and through training."
It has eight firing ranges as well as archery and fishing facilities located on 375 acres in Westfield, about 100 miles west of Boston.

How is it legal to let an 8 year old fire a gun?

The parents of that poor child should be locked up. Sick shit. Oh wait, get ready for this. Just read that the kids father is a "director of emergency medicine".Quote: "This accident was truly a mystery to me," said Bizilj, director of emergency medicine at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, Conn. "This is a horrible event, a horrible travesty, and I really don't know why it happened." Gee I dunno? Quote: Bizilj told the Boston Globe he was about 10 feet behind his son and reaching for his camera when the weapon fired. Un-effing-believable. The guy is a director of emergency medicine, presumably sees what guns do to people, yet thinks it's fine for an 8-year-old to fire a weapon that adults can barely handle. He should not be in charge of other people's lives.

This is EXTREMELY tragic. I think these types of accidents unfortunetly happen more than publicized. THis video is a DEA agent talking about the dangers of guns in a classroom and shoots himself in the foot. Same may find it funny but it was a random accident. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhIJOVD8hwY

Children shoot themselves and other children quite often while playing with guns. I think the shocking part of this story is the fact that it was under the supervision of adults and professionals.

Re: Eight-year-old shoots self with Uzi
Aren't child endangerment and/or reckless endangerment crimes? Seems like dear ol' dad broke *some* sort of law here.
I see that Michigan has a law saying it's ok for kids to shoot guns as long as an adult supervises...so Fine.. The kid broke no laws, but to me, that doesn't exonerate the dad as their has to be a line where a 'child' is deemed too young to decide for him/herself. A parent watching an infant playing with a loaded UZI, for example, would surely (I hope) not be legal in Michigan or anywhere else!

Shoots shelf in foot] He handled it damn well though. "Listen, children. If I, the most responsible person in the world, can have a gun accident and shoot myself in the foot then you irresponsible MFers will DIE if you touch a gun. Do not play with guns." But then he had to go and ask someone to bring him a bigger gun? WTF? "Hey lady. I still got some of my foot. Will you please bring me that shot gun so I can take care of it?"

Re: Eight-year-old shoots self with Uzi
well...I personally think even if guns are legal there should be some age limit. And how are Uzi's legal for citizens to have? I can see the lame argument of hunting, but if you're hunting with an Uzi, there is somethign wrong with you.
If the parents and people in charge of this event, don't get jail time, i'll be pissed.
How did that conversation go?
"Can my 8 year old fire this Uzi, automatic machine gun?" "yeah your 8 year old can fire my machine gun" "let me get my camera, this is gonna look great on the net!"

The exhibitors should add these very important rules:
1. Do not allow 8 year old kids in a gun exhibition. 2. Let the self-proclaimed experts "accidentally" shoot themselves in the head.

When all is said and done, I just need to know this: Are kids toy guns still multi-colored and have orange tips on them? Because lord knows that has actually saved lives! A G1 Megatron without an orange tip is a dangerous thing!
Over-regulate the toys. Under-regulate the real. Thanks law!

Re: Eight-year-old shoots self with Uzi
They got really crazy about the toys because back in the eighties, some cops shot a bunch of kids playing lazer tag in a park at night, back when they were just solid black remotes. Thats why my mom threw away all my awesome lazer tag stuff I had just got on my birthday.
So its basically for experts like that DEA agent to tell if a gun is fake or real, maybe someone painted an orange tip on his gun so he thought he had a toy. That guy had to be on so much meth not to feel that gunshot in his leg, and those kids are so gangster, they didn't even move or scream. That guy should have acted like it hurt and not asked for another gun, you want kids to be scared of those things and think they are painful and dangerous, this guys like see kids, it doesn't even hurt, hand me that other gun now.
