These are both 1100a tables. They are very heavy.
There is a hand me down Gemini mixer in there.

One of those towers is a P2 W2K machine with a decent soundblaster card.
The last time I was "mixing" stuff,
I was playing some Richard Pryor over a long playing Big Audio Dynamite.
The majority of my record collection is rock and punk
so that's all I've ever played around with.
I was big into making mix tapes so the tables are just the next level.

Tunnel Ha! I refused to play there once because security hassled my friends to death, and kept searching us like we were about to bomb the place. I told the asshead security guy to have fun filling the slot. Yeah Tunnel was notorious for bridge an tunnel crowd/ guidos.

It's funny in this thread about alot of us got into the jungle scene in the early to mid 90's and got out around the same time. Personally after 2001 is just became boring for me. I had been spinning nu skool breaks on the side from the late 90's but I even stopped that around 2003. Totally went indie again afterwards. With music now it's just either I like it or I don't, but I rarely seek out new stuff anymore.

2 1200's and a bungy old numark ( i know) and a couple of big home yamaha's. All 2nd hand or handme downs. Which have served me well and beem dragged around to parties and odd gigs. Also used to have a semi regular thing going at what I thought was the coolest gig in town a night called Aesoteric. This night was great you could play anything All experimental and shit.. minimal, leftfield ambient noises,hiphop instrumentals, jazz, broken beats, rare grooves, micro all the deep stuff. And halfway through the night some crazy live act would come on. Fun stuff.
The cost of vinyl has sent me to the dark side, mp3(damn even mp3 AU$2 a song now.)
So I have bought an m-audio xponent for mixing mp3 which is a whole different beast. Ive had to send it back to the states twice for replacement and the wheels are still too tight. Which I have decided to live with and my laptop was nicked not to mention the mp3 database/storage/fiing/categorising issues with the exponent system which I have decided to bypass. . But nothing was meant to be easy and I like a challenge.

Mine did that too, even after replaced, that plastic threading just doesn't hold up at all. I finally just epoxied the damn thing on because I was so sick of getting to a gig and having to dig out the with a screw driver. My left channel is starting to bleed as well, nothing even noticeable though unless I am at home with volume all up and no track playing on the right, but still disappointing.

The rave act totally sucked but it drove parties back to where they were harder to find, which is fun. A few promotion companies I worked for (and myself as well) got taken to court under that and the prior crack house laws, which were only made to stop raves and after that failed the rave act came.

I was totally anti-mp3/cd until trying out serato a year after it came out. Doing regular gigs and converting rare vinyl to MP3 and not having the wear and tear carrying tunes in a record case brings is nice. Plus you pretty much know the places where playing out non vinyl is not going to fly so the darkside actually started to look pretty good.

i like playing cd's as well i think as long as you got good quality mp3's or wav's is ok, 90% of the ppl on the dance floor could care less whethere you play vinyl or mp3's/cd's, now a days is a personal choice i guess

Last rig I had was just 1200 Mark IIs and a vestax battle mixer.
Loved the action on the vestaxs. Used to play much of the same,
hard minimal techno, jungle, dnb, etc. Been thinking about moving some
of my 12's on ebay, but I get the impression vinyl trade is all but dead.

Hmmm...I had a good time at Tunnel but only on Junior's night. (and no that is not an endorsement of Junior Vasquez ) And that was because we had tags and got in ahead of everyone and you could enjoy yourself properly.
I enjoyed parties here in the Boston area: the Primary color parties, loft parties in the south end, The Loft itself (was anyone there for Little Louie Vega), Twilo, Tunnel was fun from time to time, and....haha...(jeb will appreciate this one) Konkrete Jungle

Did anyone else here go to Dark Christmas with Ed Rush? Hmm...that must have been 95 or 96....great night out.

don't be shy about enjoying junior nights ...i used to go to his sound factory nights (which were amazing),,,but stopped going when he moved to tunnel (the blacklist was in effect)...

i started going back to his parties when he left the tunnel for the palladium/arena & then twilo later on....some of the things that i saw at those parties were freaky/otherworldly to say the least...grace jones crawling on the floor in the vip room grabbing your kneecaps and growling anyone???

ed,,when you say the loft,,do you mean david mancuso's space on east 3rd street or a club in boston?? if you mean the nyc space,,any party there was special...especially scotto's post-nasa Living Room parties at the loft...

I have 2 Vestax Ltd edition PDX A1S's, they are metalic blue. They were the first straight tone arm deck's that Vestax did and they are spot on. I see most people have Technic's on this thread. I thought when looking to get my decks(about 9 years ago), i would go for the Technic's, which is what i'd always played on. Then i tried the Vestax, they just blew the 1210's away. The motors were awesome and the straight arm is a dream for people(like me) who are a little heavy handed, when having a scratch up. Now i drool over the PDX2000, which is like the turntable-ist deck of choice now days. Reverse button, speed control for the start/stop button and +/- 60 on the pitch..........nice.
My mixer is a PMC06(mixstick), which is spot on for cutting and scratching, as others have said already. It's also perfect when you ain't got much space.
I was always into the 80's indie scene, but used to go clubbing at the old Kentish town country club(now the forum), at a night thrown by Wendy May. She used to play indie, but also would throw in Jackson sisters, James Brown and a lot of Rare Groove.
Then i got the Acid house bug in 88 and as they say, the rest was history. I just moved with what was new. In those day's you did'nt have all the different types of house music, as it had'nt splintered off. The house music changed into Hardcore and we all went with it.
From there it was Acid Jazz stuff, back to house, then Nu-school breaks(with some D'n'B and Jungle thrown in). Now i'm really into elctro house and electro clash, also the 8bit stuff.
I've always carried on with my indie music as well, all through the morphing of the UK dance scene.
The best bit was when i got married and mine and my wifes record collection's were merged and we now have around 4500 records.
We still only buy vinyl, unless it's not available on that format........vinyl til' i die

so funny,,i never knew the forum was once called the country club,,just doesn't seem fitting for the area...and i can only imagine what kentish town was like in the 80s.....

We had an afterhours club here in Boston that was called the Loft. It didn't serve alcohol, so it could be open all hours. It had a sick roofdeck that was right in the heart of the best skyscrapers in the city.
The Loft here was my introduction to clubbing. I started going when I was 16 because anyone was welcome (no alcohol). It opened my eyes and made me realize I wasn't the only gay kid in the world..a big thing for me at that time. (I went to Catholic high school and lived in the burbs.)
That was where drum n bass was first played in Boston too, by Overload (who was one of my favorite dj's)

I wish I had gone to the Loft in NYC though. I first heard of the NASA parties when I got to college though. The tour he did came through Boston, and while I missed that, I did end up finding my way to some of the greatest raves I have ever gone to. One was in a garage in Roxbury, we could barely dance because the floor was slick with fuel.

I saw some seriously weird shit at Junior's tunnel nights as well...

overload was a great dj,,i remember he was one of the first djs in the US to focus on the atmospheric/bukem styles....

do you remember the name of the d'n'b club night al foogey threw in boston?? i have a tape from that party when goldie played in the US for one of the first times...that tape still gets played to this day

most of goldie's mixes are a bit questionable but the tape conveys the whole mood of the party too,,,which was electric,,,so it works well...

Jungle Roots. Held at what used to be the old Quest, and called something else before my time.

I saw so many insane dj's in that little basement, and later the upstairs room.

FAbio and Grooverider turned that place on it's ear. The Dark Christmas party with Ed rush and optical was nuts, but the best night I went there was for Bukem and Conrad. NUTS. I miss those nights.

the easy to use set up

I got 2 x 1200's and a Pioneer DJM-500 mixer.

I probably have as much vinyl as Pogue and I play all sort of styles.

I use to have a record shop in HK that opened for 4 years but it was more about having fun than a real business. Met so many nice people and djs that drop in when visiting HK.

I play anything jazzy, funky, electro, nu disco, hip hop. I also dj house. I am also in a dj collective called ROBOT. We play house, techno and electro. Anything quirky, old school and mixed up. I like... Fidget House, Jackin House, Electro both early 70's and 80's to the revival stuff now, Early Chicago House, Acid House (which is what started my electronic music love) and Brazilian/Baila Funk.

Djs I have spun with: Cassius from France, Dimitry from Paris, Dimitri of Deeelite, Giles Peterson, Eddie Pillar (Acid Jazz boss), Andy Smith (Portishead dj) , United Future Organisation.

I just started using Serato Vinyl Scratch because 90% of my records are in storage.

This is my work area with my turntables. As you can see I only have a small area to put my records now...this is where I do my design work, djing, and also flickr photos on this small desk.

I am still rough around the edges in my mixing ...though my first gig was in Sydney in 1988.
