Re: trial poll, best new toy of 2008
Until this afternoon, I had none of these toys. Went to S7 and picked up the 'Devilman' Ojo.
Voted.

Re: trial poll, best new toy of 2008
I just can't give the love to the troopers. Oh, I like 'em, like I've said before, especially all the whistles and bells but the little buggers just don't wow me. And I like Mars Attacks and b\w sci-fis more than most.
I don't even own a fucking bemon demon yet (and 1 is all I want, just like my lone hp bemon) but the thing looks rawkin' . And, I must admit, I'm talking the whole package - toy, header card, extra goodies, etc...
Why does the high vote count on Martin's toy surprise you? It is gargamel. And the color schemes really help the figure stand apart from itself. Something I think is often severly lacking in colorways/platforms/versions.
In the meantime, someone post a photo of the Shikaruna Doro. (but why is this figure the best they've released so far? just curious...)

Re: trial poll, best new toy of 2008
Shikaruna overall just doesn't appeal to me. Too...I dunno...well done? Too nice and literal. They're cool, just not my taste. I prefer rougher or simpler sculpts. They're just too nice for me.
As far as the D&Dishness of it all, that actually is appealing to me. Takes me back to dirty basements and garages and Metal Church and....I'll shut up before I embarrass myself more.

For me the two-headed bemon is cool but the hands suck. The Doro is very clunky but cool looking...(i think this thing will get sold and resold quite a bit just do to the size though). But I don't think they are to d and d. I think the boogie with the capes and the bop dragons with capes are completely dungeons and Dragons etc. They are cool but scream nerd and are a total nerd fest in itself. (Although we are all toy nerds.)

I picked Ojo and Space Troops. Not into 2 headed Bemon as much.

Re: trial poll, best new toy of 2008
Ojo Rojo wouldn't make my top 20. The Shikaruna Dororu is kinda neat, but isn't even close to as cool as Shikaruna's earlier figures. As for the 2-headed Bemon, well, I think you could stick it on a McFarlane Toys card and hang it on a peg at Toys-R-Us and it would look right at home. Mummy Boy is way underrated. kaiwi wrote: ted koppel wrote: ojo rojo in the lead?! maybe its because i dont own the toy that i dont understand I don't get it either. No way, it's too rough and choppy to be even CLOSE to a McFarlane toy. The Dorol guy is waaaayyy more McF. to me. The 2 header is so raw and bulky. If McFarlane did it it'd be a lot more smoothed out and probably be a lot more "professional" looking, maybe a big tongue hanging out of one, chains all over, a cape, the facial expression would be way more extreme. Sorry, I almost find that an insult to compare the 2HBemon to a McFarlane toy. Maybe the "spirit" or "feel" of its design, but not the end product.
