I was over on KR this morning and saw that theres going to be a collab between Tim Biskup and Rangeas.
Maxomaltan and HB coffin came correct with the photos. Care to post them up over here? It's definitely an interesting collab compo

Does anyone know why? Does he love the Rangeas so much he wanted to do a biskupized version?

Still prefer the original sculpt. More detailed, the signature T9G eyes and overall less cartoonish. Maybe the painted versions will change my mind, we'll see.

I like the look of it so far.....but a lot depends on the paint job.

i kinda like it, but wish it were some kind of clear color....

is it the same size as the OG? might be interesting if it were smaller or something.....

really kinda on the fence.....

So far I dig the head and eyes but not 100% sure about the body. Looks a little plain; could use some form of detail. Like you said, need to see the painted version.

I get a bit more sinister vibe off the biskup one...but only from the straight-on shots, not from the profile.

Definitely looks like it's more 'mini-fied': the tail has less detail and isn't articulated. I do like the spread of the arms, etc.

And yeah: Yellow OG is the hotness. Is TT the best stateside venue for picking these up?

I really like how they are collaborating from the sculpt level besides the paint. It feels a much more real collaboration in my opinion. I like that the Biskup one can move it's arms up, more convincing baby version having it's arms in that pose.

Also I think with Biskup's Dragamel and T9G's Rangeas, they do have some similarities with the dino idea.

And yes I want to try and buy the regular Rangeas for sure.

I wonder how the collab came about:

TIM B: "Let's collaborate on a project T9G! I like what you did on the Rangeas--can i create a new version and re-sculpt my own."

T9G: "Yeah sure! Why not TIM?"


IMO, I think the OG is perfect and doesn't need a "revision" on the sculpt.

This new Biskup version might as well be given a new name because it doesn't feel or look the same as the OG at all.

I guess the real challenge and novelty of collabs is...using the original sculpt and try to make something out of it, as your own by paint apps.

But if its a collaboration on a new toy----a new sculpt---it would have been a totally different story.

As if my opinion would really matter, but this is my two cents...

I dig it. Although I wish the biskup version would have those doll-ish eyes like the original. I want to see the paint app tho.

Maybe we will see a T9G helper?

I agree with you there, I know I almost stand alone here - but I don't really enjoy the same toy churned out from the same mold each time, with diff color applications laid on it and nothing else unique. I can deal with the same character, with diff arms, or a new facial expression, etc, slight changes or an artist having their hand in modding the sculpt - but I couldn't ever do the RxH thing with a line of the same toy in diff colors This is a bit refreshing for me to see, even though I'm not a real big fan of this character/sculpt in general.

i was actually thinking about how creepy a t9g dragamel would be.

This is an interesting idea...I'm glad they did it, although I don't think I'll get one. I like the horns on the Biskup version a lot.

Wow! I didn't expect to, but I like it. But then I don't like the standard Rangeas at all. The Biskup eyes make it a lot better...and the mouth...and "beard"...aw heck, everything about the Biskup version is better than the original, IMO! Though I still don't like the horn coming out of the back of the head, or the "neck horns".

i just saw the pic of the dude holding it and don't like it's size...i wish it was smaller. it looks like it wants to be a mini when you see it alone.

Is it in the same scale as the large Pollards and Gamagon?

It's neat.
It gives my a Bone's rat-creature kinda feel.

I'm not sure about this new version. looks a little too cartoony for me. I do like the "durian flesh" vinyl color though. I can't wait to see the final product. It could be really something if they have some cool color ideas.

I'm gonna wait for a pretty GID painted one to come out.
