 Re: Election discussion thread.
I keep thinking of that scene in Aliens where Bill Paxton is scared out of his mind saying "Game Over man!" Yeah that probably should be the same scene going through most right wingnuts minds right now!

I googled it and all the spin seems to be towards an argument for it being a bad thing to elect Obama. Hardly... Oh yeah, shit is corrupt so we dont want to elect this dude and create even more trouble, phhff.

 Re: Election discussion thread.
McCain is giving his concession speech and people are booing. Does that always happen?
Jesse Jackson is crying. What a douchebag. Just a couple of months ago he was saying he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off.

 Re: Election discussion thread.
I think Jesse is crying because he thinks he should be the one walking on that stage in a little bit. And I don't recall so much booing at past concession speeches, but that doesn't surprise me given the crowd.

Well, they stir all these fuckers to a frenzy at rallies, you think it can be shut off that easily? They're angry white people who just had the hated black socialist terrorist elected president.

Optimistic for the future for the first time in a long time. Really classy speech from McCain. And a moving one from Obama. I hope he lives up to the promise.

Yeh!! I couldn't help but watch some of tonight's coverage on FOX news. I was surprised they did not instruct people to gather provisions and move to the desert

And I think that's why we're in such deep shit everywhere. We're seen as just two-faced schmucks. Biden in there can at least lay down the facts and deal with it. Oh also, I forgot to mention: This is mind-warpingly unbelievable! Like the guy at the bar said "This is like the Yankees winning 1 million fold..." Here in NYC people are honking and cheering and it's like no other election I can remember. It's just great. I hope the "change" stuff happens, but on the most base level. Holy shit. This proves that anyone can achieve most anything political if they put their mind to it. Don't underestimate that. Met some folks who were canvasing in Philly and they said they went to homes, knocked on doors and some of the places were the most bombed out messes ever. And people admitted NEVER voting in years. This year they did. This is massive folks. This is history. siphilon wrote: helllllllll yah!!##( Virginia is a blue state....FINALLY!! Re: Election discussion thread.
A great day for the country!
Was at a bar this evening when the election was called for Obama and the woman next to me burst into tears that McCain lost. After she composed herself she started praying, muttering something about praying for protection since now that Obama is elected 'IT IS CERTAIN' the US will be attacked again by terrorists! SHe heard it on Fox..

This is such an amazing time! He won, granted things won't be insanely different but it's the biggest step in the right direction. I feel so happy.

He was not saying it to dissuade people from voting for Obama (that would be a bit counter-productive), but trying to let us know that it's not over with the election and to remain vigilant. I think the statement is only crazy if you take it out of its context. I am so happy about this, but Biden is right, we have to keep going and not let this wave of change stop.
