 Re: Mirror's Edge
I was hoping you would post about this game bert.
How is the freedom to move around...can you jump off anything...go anywhere, or is it pretty much mapped out for you?
You say you're dying too much...are the early levels too difficult, and do you have to start way back in a level to get to a difficult maneuver if you bite it?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm seriously thinking about picking this up and want a trusted hands-on review.
I love B-13.

 Re: Mirror's Edge
Have you tried the demo? It will give you a good idea of a fair amount of the game. Controls (pretty solid), free roam...well, not really because your path is pretty laid out with red markers. Some areas are big enough that you can take whatever you feel like. There are save points so dying isn't that big a deal. The game moves really fast and that's why I'm dying a lot. You're running around looking for those red markers and you mis-time the jump...and you go splat. Sometimes you jump to a pipe or a ledge and you're off by an inch...and you go splat. At this point, I'm wondering how long the game is. Dead Space is great but it's a little too short. I'm hoping Mirror's Edge is a little longer. I'm sure once I get the hang of the jumps, the game will be even more fun and fast. I almost missed Top Chef this evening and didn't even go to the midnight release of WoW: Lich King. Try the demo a few times.

 Re: Mirror's Edge
I played the demo for PS3. It's a cool idea, but I'm not really feeling it. I think the jumps are too hard to estimate. You feel like you are going to run off the building before you jump. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer my platformers in 2D Like gatchabert said, try the demo first. It's worth trying it out for free, might save yourself 60 bucks.

 Re: Mirror's Edge
I dunno, I'm glad I didn't buy it. I borrowed it from a friend, played it a bit.
I find the combat to be just awful. "Frustrating" is fine, but this is the bad, "I don't wanna play this anymore" sort of frustrating.
And it's really weird that no one seems to inhabit the game world, I mean, don't people work in these buildings? The perspective makes for an interesting play experience, but the control mechanics seem to get in the way. The story is totally forgettable. It's an ambitious game, and is supposedly going to be a trilogy, I hope they refine some of this stuff for the next game.

 Re: Mirror's Edge
demo is a great way to go if you are at all interested. I was too impatient and decided I couldn't be bothered with this game. I was not liking the controls. LBP & MotoGP 08 will keep me well satisfied for right now!

 Re: Mirror's Edge
There's a ton of great games that came out this year. So many that I might have to make a gaming schedule.

 Re: Mirror's Edge
I played the 360 demo just last night and thought it was ok. If I was younger and had more patience, I would be more into it, I think. I do, however, really appreciate the overall design and feel of the game. Very clean and vector-ish, if that makes sense.
Left 4 Dead, on the other hand, I am in love with. I absolutely cannot wait until it comes out.
