I know this was answered here in the past, but I just spent 10 minutes searching and can't find it.
How do I capture an image on my screen so I can play with it in photoshop?
And I'm talking about images like on the Secret Base site that you can't alt click and then save image.

I seem to remember there was a 2 or 3 button combo that worked. Just pressing my prntscrn button doesn't do anything with my computer.

All you have to do is press the "print screen" button, and the saves the screen to memory. Then, all you have to do is open up Photoshop, create a new file, and paste it in.

for some reason that doesn't work for me. Just hitting the prntscrn button doesn't copy anything.
I can't figure out the combo of buttons that someone posted in the past that worked for me.

it might be ctrl + printscreen or maybe alt + printscreen. i havent used a pc in awhile though, sorry if thats not it.

Hmmm.... if the plain "printscreen" button doesn't work, then try it with a combination of alt, ctrl, or Fn...

Here's what I do...

1) Get desired image on screen.
2) Press PrintScreen on keyboard.
3) Open Photoshop.
4) Select File on bar along top.
5) Select New on drop-down menu.
6) Select OK.
7) Select Edit on bar along top.
Select Paste on drop-down menu.

can't you just right click on the image you wanna snag and then click save? Then just open it in the editing program you wanna use to modify it

Most of the time the answer is yes! But there are some websites that are set up where you can't. The Secret Base site being one of those.

That doesn't work on my computer for some reason. Clicking on the prntscrn button does absolutely nothing. When I go back to photoshop there is nothing on the clipboard so I don't even get the paste option.

If Javascript on a website prevents Right Click options to View or Save an image, then go up to the View Menu and click on Source or Page Source. This opens a TXT file for the pages' HTML code, scroll through it until you find the image link for the JGP file you are interested in.

Copy and paste the entire image URL (e.g. http://www.somesite.com/myimage.jpg) and paste it to another browser window. Voila, Right click options to View or Save are now available.

Ok, wasn't there a thread somewhere on here on how Macs are easier? I have never heard of such convulted actions to just get a screen capture. Wowser!

If you are talking about grabbing images on http://www.secret-b.com then my instructions above do NOT apply. They are using Macromedia Flash, not sure myself how to grab those images.

Just make sure Photoshop is up and running before you hit the Print Sreen button and it should work fine.

It actually doesn't matter if Photoshop is already running or not... it just puts an image of the screen into static RAM. You can paste it into Excel or Word or almost anything else that would allow such a pasting.

Screengrabs on the PC are one of the few things I think PCs do easier than Macs.

what, holding down shift+apple and hitting the 3 key is hard? it even makes a camera sound!!

Matters on my pc. Won't past into PhotoShop otherwise. It's a problem I've seen on almost all the pc's I've owned. When programs are opened and closed the data copied doesn't always remain in static RAM.

weird... Since I do graphics work, maybe the systems I work on have more than usual amounts of RAM so I don't run into this problem.
