you obviously don't know Geo!

be prepared for 40 shots of his backside, each different by 1/300th of a degree.

I hope we're still talking about the toy. I don't think I need that many photos of geo's backside. Or any. I don't want any.

I must say that the first shot of the Marmegon mini on page 3 is quite nice- especially the effect created by the out-of-focus background.

I was looking at your blog and you have some really nice shots on there. But there's something I'm not really feeling about these Anraku shots I can't quite put my finger on. I think you might be doing too much sharpening or enhancing the contrast too much in photoshop. I like your pictures with more natural lighting.
Normally, I don't comment on photography as I just snap pictures and don't worry about lighting or propping or anything. I just thought I'd share my opinion since you have a blog dedicated to your photos.

Yeah, Geo gets so wrapped up in the "art" of his "photos" that he loses "focus" and the "result" is that everything ends up looking "fake".

"just sayin'"

I take all of my pictures in natural light - outdoors (weather permitting) or where light is coming in through the window. I don't use Photoshop (don't own it) but sometimes use Elements to adjust "blemishes" or distractions in the background. The only other program I use is Nikon Capture NX to adjust light, contrast, and focus in RAW format.

It is fairly rare that I am completely happy with a picture of a toy that comes straight from the camera - I usually "heighten" its visual impact by increasing the image's contrast to emphasize certain aspects that I find interesting, or to draw attention to what I find particularly attractive about the toy or essential to its character. Some folks like my pics (including the toy's creators) - others don't because it is not "realistic" or because they just don't like me (or don't like who they think I am). But I take pictures of my collection first and foremost for my own enjoyment, and the end results are primarily geared towards how I like the final image, not how I think others will like it.

I've been in graphics for a very long time. There are no "honest" pictures.
I adjust in photoshop because my house is dark and my lighting is crap. I try to return the values to what I perceive.
How objective can that be?
Everybody does something to an image. Images are an intent to communicate, so what do you want to say?
That seems to be the point to me.

If the pictures were only for your own enjoyment, then why bother posting and sharing them? One should expect criticism (be it good or bad) if you were to decide to share anything here.

For the majority, it's your history of odd behaviour on this board that's attracting negative attention and not your pictures. I've always thought your pictures were fine and I'm sure many do too. Your blog was a strong catalyst for my initial interest in Japanese vinyl. I say keep up the good work but maybe try to blend in little better with the folks here?

I'm still kinda disturbed that Geo posts about getting a Drunk Boy, fresh out of Jail, and then takes pictures of him taking his clothes off...

He must have dropped the soap a couple of times when he was in prison.
