Some amazing releases this year! Gonna take some pics today-

I wanna either include a 'Score of the year' in this thread or start a new thread also, I have been quite lucky this year, picked up a few personal grails!

Do that- Make a "Score of the Year" thread, I'd do it but I don't want to steal your thunder. =)

As for toy of the year? I think some standouts are:

SB DBM Brain- sdcc version specifically
SK Garumega (did that come out this year?)
Tim Biskup Rangeas
The 0-1000 boogie man that just came out
Lorbo
The Kamen Rider 3 (think thats right) Mutant Evil- the one with the red head. Man, thats the first production RxH I saw and really wanted... too bad it was gone in an instant, and then super expensive in the aftermarket.

I've thought about this carefully and I'm not even giving into the hype of this new toy but I have to go with this as toy of the year:

I've really thought about this. Shikaruna has done some amazing releases this year, but I still like this guy the most! Hopefully a release is in the near future

+1 on the above. though I can't in good conscience really give it my full vote without ever having had one in hand. we'll see if I get lucky one of these days. I still think the arm placement works great on this fig.

I have to think about it more but I've been highly impressed by shikaruna toys in general and I don't collect them.
The dororu was just to massive for my shelf but they are constantly putting out high quality paint jobs and creative toys.

2008 was a massive release year. Stuff was churned out at an alarming rate --- it's hard to choose even just a few favorites.

I'm just picking from new sculpts, not re-paints of toys released in previous years. Also, only toys I own, 'cause you just can't believe the hype (although if I had a Zollmen Saucer Kaiju or a Zudon, I'm pretty sure they'd be in the list...).

I can't get enough of these fuckers... the Neo Eyezon is hands down my favorite. Granted, I've only been collecting vinyl since May or June, but as soon as I saw these guys, I was hooked. The sculpt is just the perfect size to never go anywhere without one, and still manages to have an incredible level of detail AND be nice and posable compared to other figures his size (he's about Monster Family height, and has both arm and waist articulation).

If I had to pick a second, it'd be something from the Elegab line... I don't know if I could possibly chose from between them though!

It's hard to pick just one from this guy over the last year but this one definitely deserves "Toy of the Year"in my book.

With this thread revived, it is interesting to see which previous 'toys of the year' are now sitting immovable in the sales thread. (I think it is more a reflection on the state of 'collectors' than of the toys.)

And PH, that is an amazing Shuttlegon (and I will think that next year, too  )
