Post COSMO LIQUID GARAGE TOY
Cosmo Liquid has taken the fight figure bask to its basics with his new minimalist toy, Mr. Punch Ball. On display and available at the BEAMS TOKYO CULTuART shop opening party tonight. Talking to Kondo he was explaing why he did this and it turns out this is his response to there being so many "fight figures" these days with the fight taken out of them. He wanted to show in a minimalist way what these were meant to be, FIGHTING TOYS! Anyway, here is a picture.

There's no doubt that CL is a great sculptor, but these? Blech.

I get the idea. I appreciate the idea. I don't like the toy and wouldn't take it for free. It seems to be more of a statement than anything.

That's pretty cool.
I like how the Black one has glossy and matte paint.

I think this is just as good as the complicated sculpts he's done...sometimes too many details makes a toy look like it's made from something it's not. I want my vinyl to look liky vinyl...not like cast plastic or something else (see: Mindstyle's Dark Crystal toys...they're amazing technically, but why make them out of vinyl?)

I'm down for this simple character...

Lorne, I'm all for simple, and rough but this? Wouldn't this techinically be a fighting (expletive deleted)? Think about the talent and power in that man's hands, sort of like me drawing stick figures and calling it minimal design.

I hate pretty much anything wearing boxing gloves, and the design of the face is just silly. Are the gloves and trunks painted or matte vinyl? It would be neat if they were matte vinyl... and then the idea applied to a different toy.

What's with that chain of plush heads. are those attachable to the body. I was thinking that would be cool, that simple body with one of those plushies for the head.

Exactly my thoughts. Looks like one of those things that had a bomb for a head and a matchstick accessory.

Post Re: COSMO LIQUID GARAGE TOY
for me its not so much about the sculpt but the quality, sure its real simple but its made of high grade vinyl. and the matte and gloss mixture tells me there taking the paint apt seriously too.

It's funny as a middle finger to all the companies cranking out fight figures like there's no tomorrow. Eh, I can see that.

But aesthetically, come on.
