Ha!

got to admit I've put together an almost complete FWY mini set myself...a guilty, but fun, pleasure. I bought one for my nephew and then ended up buying a lot more for myself.

I just picked up a gold version of the Crazygon by Bandai...the large claw is made of rubber though, which caught me off guard...still a cool toy. like that blue one a lot...

What's it all about? Getting a nice inexpensive hook up w/ a some misshapen toy that's been smouldering in the back of my brain for a couple of years.

Even better if the toy has some strange backstory. Lumpy here was an early prototype design of the kaiju Hedorah that Toho Studios used on the German lobby cards for the 1971 film 'Godzilla vs. Hedorah'.

35 years later, Sofvi Life (a splinter division of Marmit) released the toy.

Even better if the toy was previously owned by a 'Cool Cat'.

All that history stuff, both production and personal, makes it all so much more fun. For me, anyway.

I keep missing that Hedorah when he comes up for sale. Such a beautiful sculpt and color.

It's about getting what fits for ya. I've had to sell off and cut back a lot recently. It made me realize what I really like and that I'm actually happierwith smaller, off-beat older stuff 9 out of 10 times. It's nice to be happy with what you have. Glad I had a few extra rubles at end of billing cycle to grab (along with all the erasers) this very small yamo:

I just got my box of cheap stuff from japan (pickleloaf's thread). Just to say that I can't believe how much fun and satisfaction there can be with even *erasers* for godsake. Huh.

So I was browsing this thread again and having recently picked up a repro Bullmark Dungar mini I only now realized these characters heads are switched, what's up with that?

mebbe repro maker has cleverly avoided licensing fees with 2 new hybrid characters, -or-
Bakeoff on the production line...
In any case, a rarity for sure!

Just posted a full set of scans of a Matchbox car catalog I have from 1971. Some really great illustrations in it. But this is probably the best; looks like a bat-mountian:
Image

Also, note this oddity in the catalog. A picture for a "thrilling" Matchbox auto sales set... But what makes it interesting is it's noted as being "Not available in America". So did the auto industry muscle Matchbox to prevent 10-year-olds from opening mini-dealerships:
Image

And finally, two dudes play with the cars and completely ignore the gal in the background.
