The one-off (5 off?) for the shop owners is still the one that does it for me...

Agree.
Saw it Charactics up on the shelf behind the counter. Thought I'd still ask....a wry smile followed by "no".
Hey, at least I was close enough to ask,

I, for one, think this is one of their best releases and the color scheme...mwah! Beautiful.

Must own one!

I think Future just meant when is the Maza going to get a general release, something with a run of more than just 10 'lottery' figures. Each time they've been put out, it's been in conjunction with a Zudon release. The Zudons themselves have been hard enough to get. The only release that wasn't was the Exohead and it appears not many people knew about that till it was too late. Not sure of the run on that one but it appears to be a least larger than the lottery runs maybe? Looking at that one pic posted yesterday at least.

Thanks C-$$$, you explained it well. My definition of formally essentially means something that the company (e.g., Zollmen) advertises and/or markets as a release (e.g., the website). While lottery-style releases are public, they are not formal.

This sculpt has grown on me so much. I know its gonna drive me nuts but I will have to find one !

sometimes i wonder if part of the reason we want them, subconsciously (or consciously) is because of that...

Usually that not it for me. I will come across a pic and then start the search to find out that its stupid hard to find. I usually don't go for hype figures. It just turns out that the figures I like start to get super hype right after I look into them or start collecting them.

yeah, i don't go for that whole "wow! super rare, must have!" thing either. but i don't seem to have that problem, because most of the stuff i decide to start collecting are pretty much kaiju orphans. by the time i decide i want to start collecting something, the hype has long since moved on to something else...

sorry Rich, gotta call you out a tiny bit on this part...because if it was the case, you wouldn't have any trouble finding the pieces in the first place, or end up paying a boatload like you did for that 2 headed bemon. Not a big deal, but I just don't see the need to make it seem like you're ahead of the curve. We all find out about this stuff about the same time (unless you have some Japanese "deep throat" that we don't have), then hype develops because we all shoot our load here in posts.

I think the zollmen excitement is warranted. these sculpts are great, and deserve attention. just sucks that we're also a free focus group for flippers.

Really ??

I scored that green for like 30,000 yen or something close, and everyone I asked about it said don't buy it, or I wouldn't pay anymore than "x" for it as I don't think will do well. Then right after that it was all out warfare and prices have gone up like mad. I WISH I could still get them for 300.00 or so without any problems. Same with RxH, I was collecting when you could get it on mandarake for under 100.00 bucks and not have to rush like a mad man.... that's how I scored the OG green chaos and blue mutant head in the same day for under 200.00.... I scored the gold akro for 120.00 bucks ...I could go one with prices when I first started collecting .. months later prices where threw the roof and yes I did pay them. RxH was pretty much all I collected for ever I know you know that. Its just now that I'm branching out, it seems that everything I look into is insane. I used to have a job where I was online for 95% of my tiem at work so I was on top of things. Now of days if I get online 2 or 3 times a day I'm lucky. So usually when I come across what I like by the time I look into it its maddness.

Man when I stared collecting RxH everyone was still hardcore on Secret Bases back. Otherwise this board could have been called mutantevil or something :)

There where others wayyyyy ahead of me but what you gonna do :)

And yes I have found a good few pals in Japan ;)

Come one Lorne I think you need to do more research before you call me out. I have been here for a long time now.

I USED to not have that hard of a time finding what I collected and I have had PLENTY of good luck. But boy how have times changed.

LASH I hope you don't get into Starbucks cos it's my daily staple diet. It's expensive enough as it is.

You're a trend setter Rich  Honestly I bet those 2 headed Bemons would've hit high prices anyway, Bemon and Anraku are always hot shit. Can't blame Rich for that, you just got good taste LASH.

I also bet when these start getting released normally they will get a bit more tolerable to nab.
It's a good idea: Make the first few super hard to get, build hype, make normal releases and sell the hell outa them.

Starbucks is a last resort. If I'm outa coffee at home, and there's not a REAL coffee joint around, I'll hit em' up.

I hope so, if you notice just about daily there is another 2 headed up. I have bid on the last 3 of the 2 heads. And now well there is another color up. Hope fully people will see that these aren't that rare and the prices will fall some. I refuse to pay 1000.00 for one. And if your YJA begins with "msh" stop bidding me up every damn auction !

And this zollmen figure is insane, the expression of the ... I guess face... is awesome. Zombie like !

And by I'm by far no trend setter, I just have bad timing.

I am just kiddin' around. I have a home business and my coffee machine makes me happy enough. My only requirement is to keep me awake.

Regarding toys, I think that it's just about the sculpt/paint/brand and limitability of the release. It just so happens that many of us want the same good thing. So if demand is much higher than supply...then LASH will think it's because of him again
