Brian, I don't think it's been covered yet but forgive me if it has and I missed it; are these built with the same dimensions as the vintage jumbos? I know it'll be 24" tall, but are the arm circumfrences the same? Can we easily add other jumbo accessory arms to them?

Any word? "I don't know", or "We can't say yet" are acceptable answers :)

Sorry, yes this is the same dimensions as an original Jumbo. 24"tall, rocket firing fist, wheels on the feet, polyethelene body and vinyl head. True to the OG style.

The arms dimensions may be the same, not sure yet, it is a little trickier than it should be to make it match and still look correct. That would be my hope though.

Looking great, guys!

Here's a comparison pic between the initial sculpt (left) and the final approved version:

Hate to keep harping on about this, but now that the sculpt is frozen, do we know if the arms will be compatible with the vintage jumbo arm attachments?

Looks like:

Top of chest was rounded,
Top of feet were angled,
The shoulder armor was redone,
The leg joints made seamless,
Left knee looks like it flows into shin area instead of being on top

I'm sure there's more.

Too bad the shoulders got narrower & the joints got tighter to the body- lost it's J-robo vibe. More generic, now.

I think the tightened sculpt is better...has just enough of the Jumbo flavor. This liscense prob. isn't cheap...make it too specific and you screw yourself.

I think it looks amazing. congrats!

At a core level I am still very much blown away by this figure.
Cool & wacky ideas are a dime a dozen, and you can just imagine some geeks like us sitting around and saying "hey wouldn't be cool if there was a Jumbo Machinder Storm Trooper" but I can only imagine the monumental hurdles and frustrations encountered and the sheer perserverence and willpower that must have been required to see this project actualized.

again kudos.

Post Re: S7 Jumbo Stormtrooper (Machinder Style)
I love the original for it's more jumbo-like aesthetic. The feet and shoulders screamed vintage jumbo design. It seems more modern 24" collectible now. You know, not even. It seems like a knock off of a modern collectible that you'd see in a giant easter basket at Big Lots, and no longer really has the jumbo feel for me.

Man I was on fire with anticipation for this when I first heard about it, then more so when I saw the first prototype, but now I'm not sure if I even want one.

I should add that I am a pretty big Star Wars fan, and I love the Stormtrooper design. I find it to be one of the best, if not THE best, sci fi designs ever. That doesn't change the fact that my desire for this toy was to be a JUMBO MACHINDER in the likeness of a stormtrooper and not just a 24" stormtrooper with somewhat lesser detail. I'm not knocking the work that's been done. I'm assuming this was due to Lucasfilm's input and not Brian's preferences. It's just not what I want now.

I agree with Biff and bacon_ace. Granted it's still cool - but it looks like a Storm Trooper now, rather than a Jumbo. And I really liked the idea of it being a Jumbo that happened to look like a Storm Trooper. And yes, it was probably the Lucas camp that requested these changes and Brian didn't have full control/final say. Still a great project, but Brian's vision was better than Lucas'.

Post Re: S7 Jumbo Stormtrooper (Machinder Style)
I bet a dollar Mason (bacon_ace) will still buy one!

I've had some time to let the image sink in. Not that I have a choice, of course, but my preference is leaning towards the prototype sculpt because it says "Jumbo Machinder" to me more than "Star Wars toy". While I, too, have always loved the stormtrooper and biker scout designs since I was little, I've actually never liked Star Wars, as a whole...so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm a Japanese toy fan, first and foremost.

I like the simpler shapes of the prototype's shoulders and I like how wide they are. Honestly, I don't particularly like the hips on either sculpt. The prototype looks a little weird and disjointed...but the new one looks too "technical" and realistic. Same thing with the feet. Don't know why LucasFilms felt the need to add the angled cut. The prototype feet are way better.

Overall, I think the proportions on the prototype are more heroic in that old-school Japanese sorta way...the new one seems too much like a modern collectible.

I ain't gonna front, though...I'm still getting one.

SWEET! Will you guys drive us and Star Wars fans insane by making a Sandtrooper variant (just toss on some dirt and a shoulder pad!)

Can't wait to see the final product.

That's where I stand on it now, unless I see/feel it in hand at SDCC and decide I need it after all. I was really psyched at first, due to the Shonen/Jumbo style, but now it just seems Shonen/Jumbo height :? this doesn't mean I dont still HOPE I fall in love with it at the con
