Nice to know this info finally.

If the person who bought the Mav set isn't into Ankron, can you *please* get in touch with me. I'd really love that Camo Ankoron.

Cheers.

Wasn't that Majolca? Don't think they post here, unless they're a buying agent (for an SBer).

They buy multiples of stuff at insane prices, over $1,000 just on two of the same Lucky Bag Venus Gorillas for ex.

Post Re: Cronic releases
 once again

CRONIC didn't appear at the place of SF today though Naoki-san was there. But CRONIC items were dropped suddenly at Nakano-One up. Yes, it's kind of secret release.
All items are gone now so I think it's time to post the detail.

Those who red my previous post which I deleted>
Once again, I didn't want to spoil their event, therefore,I didn't write the detail before. Please understand.

I didn't notice it until Naoki-san told me it and I arrived PM12:30, 5 of 7 were alredy gone!! So I couldn't take pics of all. But One up. uploaded some and seems to hold other pics which will be uploaded soon(?), so we had better checking their Blog or HP.

Kaz, I think if you post info before the event (or during it) it's OK. After all, it looks like Tokyo's "Dealer King" got two of the best pieces and sold them on YJA. He always has all of the info about events. (He probably knew about this one in advance, I would guess.) So, in my opinion, it's good to tell fans about events here even if theyr'e still going on. :)

Post Re: Cronic releases
If CRONIC anounces the event on their Blog etc officially, I'll be able to post the detail here without hesitation but today's event was special or secret which Naoki-san said to me so...mmm, it seems tough to deal this kind of info for me

"Dealer King"... well, I'm sure he or she has a lot networking.

Sure he does. (By the way, Dealer King is what Japanese collectors call him.)

Unfortunately, with events like this, he can easily get the best pieces. Then collectors have to pay 2-3X (or more) the original price.

So what I mean is the best way to fight this problem is to let as many collectors as possible know. Sure, more flippers may see the information, but because of their networks, they already know the info anyway.

The best way to deal with event or release information is to ask Naoki (or Ken) if it's OK to tell other people. If he says yes, then you can help other Cronic collectors by posting it here. I do that as often as I can, but since I don't live in Japan my information is sometimes limited.

Post Re: Cronic releases
a much better way to do it would be to tap people like Kaz, Andy, James, etc...all of whom Naoki knows are hardcore collectors of his work...as well as Japanese collectors he knows, to help figure out a group of people who could be on some kind of mailing list. This way the information would never be released to the public at large...but get to a good amount of people who really want the stuff.

it shouldn't exclude anyone...but I know I would never recommend someone like the "dealer king" to get the info.

I have been able to score 0 of these new works. and it's not for lack of trying. and why do people continue to sell to this "dealer king" if he's really known to just turn around and resell everything? makes absolutely no sense to me.

If dealer king is really this well known then why are stores still selling to him knowing he profits from their work and annoys the true fans?

Everybody in the sofubi world knows DK and all the other flippers. And, everybody sells to them. I've seen them at shows, the Real Head shop, stores, lines, events....everywhere. They show up, smile like they're your best friend, and get their stuff. I've never seen anyone refuse to sell to them. It's just the way it is.

that treatment is much cooler, to me, than adding a weapon - any explanation behind random acidy eyes on him?

If you run a business, this policy probably makes the most sense. No one gets excluded from purchasing these toys, it's not like toy producers have a 'black list' under their desk.

Wow, completely insane stuff. I have to admit though, I'm kind of annoyed that I can't even get the stuff from them I've had on order for over 5 months that was "ready to ship" back in summer 08 yet tons of new releases and customs have been showing up. This makes me second guess collecting Cronic a lot more than the ridiculous flipping that goes on.

I don't see any reason to be putting all of those eyes all over the pieces...minus all the oddly placed eyes these aren't half bad...

"My Cronic Valentine" its dubbed...hmmm...does it have something to do with "..sweet comic valentine...." as the song goes....

Naoki calls these bloodied pieces "Damaged Style".

When I saw the pic of Toraipasu, I thought it's strawberry-pattern

By the way, One up. seemed to upload the pics from last "Ura" BP.

Super cool BP pics. Thanks for posting the link Kaz!

I'd love one of those Maverasus or that red Zyurai to go with my BP Bakurasu.

It's amazing how Naoki continues coming up with totally new designs for these characters. It would be cool if he did a "standard" release similar to one of these - maybe 5-10 pieces instead of all one-offs, to give more folks a shot at getting them. (I'm talking about the BPs of course, not those strawberry parfaits. )

Really nice one - almost a collage of the different styles Naoki's been working in. Yeah that mummified hand with the weapon is kind of weird, but I don't think it detracts too much. All in all, it's a gorgeous piece. Seems there's no stopping the custom train!
