 a little bit of existensialism....
why must everyone surrender to their interests? people always watch what they like, not what they dislike. they eat the foods that they like, the music they like, etc. i hate this about our existence. personally, i can't stand modern country music, but i refuse to listen to anything else when working an 8 hour shift. i sometimes order meals from McDonalds because the flavor of McD's makes me gag, and the concept behind it makes me sick to my stomach. i have watched the move Titanic 8 times, and was utterly bored and irritated after the first time that i watched it. i have a shelf full of dun.nies because i hate them.... but these are all good things. i hate how we all surrender to our desires and interests........
sorry for my random rant. i've had a bit too much to drink tonight.....

Re: a little bit of existensialism....
I FUCKING HATE WHEN I'M HAPPY, SHIT!
I actually just hate when people won't TRY something outside of their comfort zone. You can say "it sucks, never again" afterword, but at least TRY. I also hate when I say I hate stuff and people go "just have an open mind!" I did open up, decided it sucked, closed up shop so get off my nuts! None of that had anything to do with whatever SLM is talking about but screw it, whatever! I do what I want! Time for coffee...which I love...and now I hate myself for loving it, thanks dude!
ps- I like REAL country music and love fucking McDonalds at any time ::oink::

Re: a little bit of existensialism....
I bet if you were to look hard, most people only give in to a fraction of their desires, usually the most harmless ones. It's when those desires begin to hurt others is when problems arise. I think that's the true test....not forcing yourself to do things you don't want, but to hold back the darker or more menacing desires.
As for trying new things, I think that's different than forcing yourself to do things you don't enjoy. I'm all for experiencing something once, and if you don't like it, you don't do it again. There's a weird sort of "endurance test" or "punishment" that SLM seems to be alluding to, with the latter. Life is difficult enough...why not just do the things you DO enjoy while you have the opportunity?

they have good coffee their coffee is pretty good! I'll drink that stuff black if it's fresh. and I don't mind their mcgriddles too much. Otherwise, I fucking hate McDonalds, but I eat there from time to time because...I don't know. fuck it. good coffee. as far as trying new things...I don't know. sure. as far as doing stuff you don't like...sure. whatever. sometimes it feels good. My mother used to make this bitter drink called Morbi. I couldn't stand it when i was little, but after a while I started to crave it. It's still nasty though. I guess I don't feel too strongly about a lot of things. it's whatever so long as no one gets hurt.

hillsy11 wrote: There's a weird sort of "endurance test" or "punishment" that SLM seems to be alluding to, with the latter. yes, this is kinda what i was getting at. it's more of an acceptance of the shitty stuff so it makes it easier to swollow. for example, it pisses me off how bad new country is compared to the classic, outlaw style, and in my area of the world, every other radio station is a country station, and they all play the same shit. i can't tell you the last time i have heard some Merle Haggard or George Jones on there, but i think i have memorized the 10 shitty songs that seem to play on loop on those stations. so, instead of continually getting pissed about the small things in the way this world works that are flawed, i forcefully accept them. same thing with the titanic example. i don't get disappointed when i movie i think is going to be good winds up sucking, and i don't get that feeling that i just wasted time sitting through the shit, because i intentionally waste my time on stuff like that all the time.... but i take it back, because right now i really really REALLY don't like this hangover, and i would let it go if i could. as for the peanut butter incident, the doc says i have the whole acid-reflux thing, and that the massive pb consumption basically pissed off my insides. with a prescription of omeprazole and a recommendation to not do that again, i was sent home with a clean bill of health. p.s., i don't even remember posting this. i should really look into an alternative to ending a night of drinking other than logging onto skullbrain...

Re: a little bit of existensialism....
I was basically confronted by my own mortality a few years ago and decided that I would no longer spend one moment doing things I dislike. Life is too short and unpredictable to waste it doing things you don't enjoy. Sure, I could watch Big Mama's House 2, but I would enjoy that time more doing something I want to do.

Re: a little bit of existensialism....
I love sucky movies, but ones that are so sucky they are good....Titanic is torture, but Plan 9 from outter space is so bad its hilarious!
I hate Mc D's and I don't eat fast food at all, unless Chipotle counts as fast food?
Country music, uh I like Johnny Cash.
Why force yourself to put up with stuff you hate? I agree with trying stuff and if it sucks, moving on and leaving it alone....
