Cannibal Holocaust has to be mentioned around here every year or so.

I did get the soundtrack for that eventually, it's awesome.

No love for Little Boots, eh? The uncut version is truly disturbing. Gotta love the beheading machine.

Anyway, how 'bout this gem:

Airborne!!

 this film is classic.
only lloyd kaufman could come up with something like the AIDS Brigade!!

I don't think I would class Cannibal Holocaust as Giallo.
Giallo is a pretty specific genre with Bava's Blood and Black Lace really sort of setting the scene for it all.
Great stuff though!

I saw a remake of Canibal Holocaust about a year ago or so... it was ok... you know, for what it was.
Actually I think I saw it at the Mother or Tears premiere, and that was pretty abysmal.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but has no one mention Last House on the Left? (also getting remade, but to positive sounding reviews).

What about Last House on Dead End Street?

I saw that SS Hell Camp years ago, but I saw it under the title SS Love Camp. I kind of like how opposite those titles are.

sorry I wasn't very clear with my post. I didn't mean to imply cannibal holocaust is giallo, but rather I had started watching giallo as well as other genre films... cannibal holocaust just happened to be the first movie on my list to share

tenebre was my first giallo! :)

I have 'your vice is a locked room' on the way

Wait, what? I heard rumors about a remake but don't see anything in IMDB about it.

watched queen of black magic this weekend also. this one was fun... like a kung fu flick with black magic. some of the ways the witchy lady killed her enemies was awesome. flying head!

Ooo... I haven't seen this one yet. Mondo Macabro has been putting out a lot of cool finds.
Is it a Pii Krasue http://peekrasue.tribe.net/ type flying head? Entrails handing down, trying to steal babies or drink blood?

3 of my favorites! I can't say I love everything Fulci does, but these 3 are awesome! Don't let the kids voice dubbing in House By the Cemetery throw you off.. it's kinda wacky.

i'll just say the scene isn't too too long, there are entrails, and it is not her head :D

Wait, what? I heard rumors about a remake but don't see anything in IMDB about it.

It's called Welcome to the Jungle. It's got a bunch of really annoying people that you would happily eat just to shut up.
It's all film POV/shakey cam documentary style. I thought it was ok, in ok, I mean crap, but not unwatchably crap. You know what you're getting into. It's shit. but kind of cool.
I saw it in the cinema, I may have walked away from it if I was home.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1090360/

I have a few Fulci laying around the flat, been trying to find the time to watch them again. Saw it all years ago, but they kind of all melt into one bloody mess after a while.

Speaking of melting as anyone seen Street Trash?

A good way to find some great grindhouse titles is by viewing the 42nd Street Forever dvds. 4 volumes full of nothing but drive-in horror/exploitation trailers of (mostly) forgotten films. I think all 4 are available on netflix....

I remember watching this when I was 11 or 12 and thinking it was pretty fucked up. Has anyone given it a viewing recently? Will I be let down or is the shock/sleaze factor still high on this one?

I have that at home actually.
Maybe I'll give it a go over the weekend and get back to you.

Your Vice is a Locked Room is great. Other giallo films you should check out are:

Torso (one of my personal favorites)
Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (Edwige Fenech  She's in Your Vice too so you will see soon enough)
What Have You Done to Solange
Deep Red
Who Saw Her Die (Aldo Lado is a pretty strong Giallo director)
Don't Torture a Duckling
All the Colors of the Dark (Sergio Martino films are mostly all great)
Red Queen Kills 7 Times
Perfume of the Lady in Black
Death Walks on High Heels and Death Walks at Midnight (Luciano Ercoli)
Watch Me When I Kill
Four Files on Grey Velvet

Ehh yea... I'm going to stop. I just have a big love for these films and could keep the list going for far too long.

I still have quite a lot of gialli to check out (so thx for the list :)), but besides Profondo and Don't Torture a Duckling I would like to second the recommendation of the above - definite gems. The House with Laughing Windows is also great!

nonsense. once you start listing giallo, it's like a chain reaction thing. it's hard to stop, because as one title graces the list, you instantly think of another film that should be on there. some of my favorites:
The New York Ripper
Tenebre
Lizard In A Woman's Skin
Five Dolls For An August Moon
Wax Mask (newer, and lacks some of the traditional argento giallo appeal, but great just the same)

also, i can't remember if this was the thread that was heavily laced with Fulci stuff or another now that i am typing this, but a few Fulci films that i think are totally underrated are:
Demonia
The House of Clocks
Manhattan Baby

Here's a good one...

ABBY
Image

Quote:
Abby is a 1974 blaxploitation/horror film about a woman who is possessed by an African sex demon. The film starred William H. Marshall, best known for portraying the lead role in Blacula, Terry Carter, and Carol Speed as the title character, Abby. It was directed by William Girdler, who co-wrote the film's story with screenwriter Gordon Cornell Layne. The film was a financial success, but was pulled from theaters after the film's distributor, American International Pictures, were accused of copyright violation by Warner Bros., who saw the film as being derivative of The Exorcist, and filed a lawsuit against AIP.

It was also filmed here in Louisville, KY!
