 Re: Mother
I know there's the "these are the new Bemons" but hell no. Bemons didn't START OFF GOING FOR $1,000! LOL, watch these drop like hot rocks in a year.
I'm still not sure how I feel about them, they're cool, but something isn't making me nuts about them. The clear 1 off's are fantastic, hope a nice and normal clear run hits.

Tomorrow's Gas Bawer?
I still like the Gas Bawers but I remember the craziness when they first arrived. Not as nutty in price as these, they might have hit $200 or so, but then crashed.

I still think they are, just based on the sculpts, but have no evidence one way or the other. Bemon, Gas Bawer, and Dempagon just look like they all came from the same mind/hands.

I honestly can't afford $250 for a toy much less $1000. High prices have always been around for some of us. It is all relative...
I think this is a really important point as many people think we're all crazy for buying anything we talk about here. Tell someone you paid $40 on a mini and they will scoff...tell them you paid $100 on a mid or standard size piece and the will laugh...tell them you paid a couple hundred on a one-off and they will punch you. This isn't food, clothing or shelter. This is a luxury, no doubt about it, and every person has their own limit. For many of us, I think that limit is a little above retail unless it's a piece we really want...so this new "through the roof in a heartbeat" shit is wearing thin just as fast (to me at least).

 Re: Mother
I agree with the rest of the Thread consensus--this sort of thing makes me want to throw up in my mouth. I thought the prices on 2 Headed Bemon were bad (40-75,000 yen), this is even worse and even MORE unnecessary.

 Re: Mother
Yeah, I agree. And it doesn't help when people start posting actual and huge dollar amounts in want threads for certain figures either.

It may not mean much but you do see them in all the show/festival pics mingled with Bemons not to mention the Dempagon and Gas Bauer all retain the Junk/Pollution monster theme.

Yes, there is a definitely a co-mingling of Bemon and Longneck. Maybe it's like the Killer J/Skull Toys deal where Killer J came up with the characters but everything is sculpted by Skull Toys. So the CKA owner came up with the Longneck characters and had his Bemon buddy sculpt them. Just a theory...

Isn't the Longneck guys name Yoda or something? Or is that also the CKA/Bemon guy? ANYWAY I was super sure the myth of them being 1 company was obliterated by Brian or someone else "in the know."

Well this is getting interesting. I thought the jovial owner of CKA himself was the one that painted up the HP Bemons.

 Re: Mother
Yoda from CKA is the owner of Longneck that produces the Gasbawer and Dempagon and Death Menargo. The guy who has always produced the Bemon is named Honda san and is affiliated with CKA only in a production/reseller relationship. This was explained to me last week when Yoda and I were rapping about toys at the Cosmo Knight Alpha store in Ekoda. He was very cool and gave me his business card, complete with an email address that is different from the one previously posted for the store.

This is like a millionaire with a cocaine addiction. He's gonna want his fix faster and faster. I bet its gonna lay cold on his shelf faster than he got it.
I mean do you have to pay a million bucks to go outer space now? We probably would have to live on the moon for God's sake.

 Re: Mother
I think it's a credit to all the members here that won the lottery (keep in mind that it was a lottery and anyone could have won) for the garimpo gid that no one here flipped or traded it. Seriously there was some pretty serious weight in trade out there and no one took it. It would have been criminal some of those trades.
I can understand some cats being upset with not winning and pissed off at the price of the one that got flipped. It is ridiculous. But seriously they'll be other "limited" toys down the pike. In a perfect world we'd all own mothers, bemons, anraku. I'd love to own myself a bemon or anraku someday. But I'd never begrudge someone for winning or say their new toy is just a hot new toy that will crash an burn immediately.
Not trying to start shit just my 2 cents......

I agree for the most part, but I think most of the people bashing it as the new "whatever" are reacting more to it being a new sculpt/figure and going for INSANE amounts of cash, that's CLEARLY all hype. Amounts of money 1-off's and crazy rare pieces barely reach. Hype city man. Cool toy, I bash NO ONE for getting one (even if they paid $1,000 like a jag, than I love them for amusing me with their stupidity) but we all gotta admit the hype level's pretty huge on this bad boy.

What about that Dempagon TV-wearing-roboto-patchi thingie? People went nutso for that too...now......meh, no one cares. Whaaaat? No one cares? OK, OK It's not "crazy priced flavor of the month" but they sell a hell of a lot better than Gas Bawers, the Joker ones all sold out, cheapest I ever saw on YJA that night was $150 before celga fees and shipping. Some are still just sitting around, but that's nice. A few easier ones to get. But I digress, it's not like some "has been" toy, it's still got a pretty firm fan base and I'm not just saying that because I'm one of them. It's a much more solid figure and I actually like it more than the Mother. Anyway, none of that has to do with anything in this thread really, I just had to rep for my boy Dempagon. Just because it's not flying off the auction sites at nutso prices doesn't mean no one cares. I'd compare it to the Space Troopers. Big hype, simmered down, some still sit around some sell out faster due to limited availability but overall there's a firm and loyal fan base. logang1 wrote: You can't even get RID of those Dempanapagon thingies now in the BST..... What examples do you have of that? The Panda and King Joe are it, the Frankenruge, 1.0, Mandarake exclusives they all sell out fast every time they're put up. ONLY the Panda and King Joe just sat around, I've never seen another in the BST just sit there. Maybe you don't notice cause' you're not into them? OK Back to Mother

The demp is not my thing never really was, but I still have that " I want to like him" feeling. So who knows maybe when a colorway drops that kills me I will get it. Same goes for the GB

Things like this make me hate the makers more than anyone. Sometimes the flippers are our friends - though not when they ask outrageous prices like this I admit. And the people who pay those prices have more money than sense. But it's the makers who feed the hype, even if the fans create it initially. I actually ADMIRE Rumble Monsters for reissuing stuff. Made it a lot easier for me to pick up a couple of figs I was missing, and also put a finger up to both the flippers and the IDIOTS who'd previously paid their stupid prices (or, worse, bought speculatively). It certainly didn't damage their own profit. I miss the old days when, as long as you got in on a preorder in time, you were guaranteed to get the goodies. Of course I'd have been pleased to get one of these, but right now my feeling is: MR. ZOLLMEN, you can SUCK MY LEFT ONE. I DO NOT WANT YOUR PRODUCT, AND YOU WILL GET NO MORE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY.
